Barack Obama's election was a historic victory for America's aspiration to be a country where anything is possible, and where all men are created equal. His election also was a victory for democracy. Even if many Americans don't like the electoral results, his campaign proved that when the American people are inspired and mobilize, they can seize the reins of government and demand change.

I am dissapointed in Tom Coburn and all reach across the aisle Republicans. Dont give them an olive branch, throw a grenade...just like they did to Bush.
I will be stunned when the first Democrat reaches across the aisle. Look what punishment Joe Lieberman is getting and he's a Democrat. What sort of treatment from Reid and gang will any Republican get? No Democrat reached across the aisle to vote for Bush's judicial nominees, but their judicial nominees will be steam-rolled rammed down our throats with no bipartisanship. The Democrats will now pass anything and everything they want unhindered. Will they go along with anything we propose? If they do, I'll be shocked. Only McLaim will cross the aisle and vote with them and work with them and get in bed wth them...perhaps even offer Cindy to them just to get back on SNL, Letterman, Meet the Press and Deface the Nation...et. al.
Areas of agreement? Just what are those, socialism, killing newborns, spreading the wealth, raising taxes? Sorry, but no dice. I don't want a part of any of that.
Colonel, Coburn has been fighting the good fight of conservatism since his election. He will DEFINITELY fight Hussein on abortion, terrorism, etc. Don’t believe for one minute Coburn was advocating cooperation on those issues.
What he mentioned was “finding programs that don’t work”, and a “line by line” budget review. Hussein mentioned those in his campaign. Coburn wants to keep him to that.
We need to show a good faith effort to work with Hussein, at least we have to do that...and of course fight him on issues where we disagree.
Conservative ideas should win in the end. And if we have to leave, do a gov’t in exile, etc. then so be it. Hopefully we won’t have to go through an entire decade like the 1960s with an LBJ styled gubmint before we realize we need to go back to our principles.
Coburn is accurate in his article, though, about Republican conservatives being shunned by even their own party. Now that party is paying the price.
We can’t go back. We have to rebuild. And small but sure gains can be made by working even with Hussein if he is truly willing to shut down gov’t programs that don’t work.
And we still must fight him on life issues, etc.
And our message has to be carried with a happier face. A cheerful, Reaganesque tone must be struck. That is why Sarah was such a hit with the base...and why her and people like Bobby Jindal have an opportunity to reach out beyond the “base”. They just need to be prepared for what we know will happen: a media attack that is constant. Sarah kept a cheerful attitude throughout, and that is to her credit.
Just mho, Jessup. :)

coburn is the author of the “Newer Tone”. He disgusts me.

How he sees electing a lying, cheating, marxist as any sort of victory is beyond me, black, brown, yellow, or white.
Yes, and fiscally prudent Tom also decided to pimp for the grotesque $800B socialist bailout
this is a great country, we will survive.
This is very disappointing. Let’s wait for the Dems to “reach accross the aisle”. I intend to be every bit as supportive of The Beloved Leader as the left has been of President Bush. Remember, according to the Left, the best way to show patriotism is to oppose the government.
The more I think about it, the man is a fraud and a thug and a criminal and he needs to be in jail rather than presuming to move into that house.
In honor of the rat’s tradition, and in order to avoid offense by mentioning his middle name (Hussein), I think I shall heretofore refer to that one simply as... *

So we voted for someone who is antithetical to all our beliefs and values.
He’s for murdering a baby who survived an abortion so as not to punish the mother.
He’s for punishing achievement in the name of ‘fairness’.
The good doctor must have some heck of an FBI file.

I found it interesting in the debates Coburn was brought up by both McCain and Obama as someone they could work with towards smaller government. Obama actually has worked with Coburn before. Naturally because it is Obama it wasn’t landmark legislation, but at least it has shown a willingness to work with conservatives on some things. Government transparency is something we should all be behind.
Amen to that.
Beg to differ. McCain will be joined accross the aisle by the usual suspects: Hegel, Snowe, Collins, Spector.
Republicans never learn. They just become dumber and more stupid as time goes by. And they go bye bye.
