The certificate is not an original, but produced by Hawaii more recently.

Interesting. I wonder why the state of Hawaii would go to the expense of having someone sit and re-type all of the information from the original BC to a new form, instead of simply photo-copying the original?

I just had to obtain a new copy of my original BC from California, and they simply photo-copied the original onto a new official document form, which bears all of the necessary seals, current date, and signatures.

Barry's purported copy seems to have been built from the ground up. Why?

On the other hand, when I got a new copy of mine from Illinois several years ago, it was much more like the Hawaii COLB--a newly generated, computer-printed document. It appears to vary from state to state. It may even vary from county to county since it's a county document (in Illinois).
