Teacher Controversy
A former Asheville teacher causes a stir on the internet when bloggers say she berates a young student for supporting John McCain. Diantha Harris used to teach at Jones Elementary, and now works for a school in Cumberland County.
A video clip making its way around the internet shows Harris asking students why they support certain candidates, and then singling out a young McCain supporter. She tells the girl, whose father is in the military, that McCain would keep her father in the service for another 100 years.
Harris tells News 13 the clip is heavily edited, and that in the original footage she did not single out any one student for supporting a candidate. She also says the film crew taping the class asked her to to start a discussion about the presidential election with her class.
Harris is labeled on blogs as an Asheville teacher, but she has not worked for Asheville schools since 2004.
It’s time for the long march to retake the institutions over-run by the marxists.
I don’t mean to be stupid, but I clicked on your link and I can’t find where it says that they are investigating and will post results. Is there another link on that website that I should go to?
Sending your kid to public school is child abuse. Homeschool or send your kids to private school.
Welcome to Obama’s America. It’s only gonna get worse.
Kind of a stretch to call that display of dyfunctional Ebonic verbalization free speech, don't you think?
We had a 4th Grade teacher here tell her class that she is pregnant. "But you're not married." the kids replied.
"I will be once the baby's daddy divorces his wife", she says.
Great example for all the 4th grade kids, huh?
Yeah, you’re right. I won’t even watch TV anymore because I can’t stand to see all the happiness over 0bama being elected. It’s beyond sickening. Fasten your seat belts Freepers, it’s going to be a bumpy 4 year ride. I’m just thankful we have each other for support!
I wonder if “Diantha” is black.
Just wondering because the prevalent racism and intolerance
is coming from minorities.
Yeah, her ebonics are great, aren’t they? It’s also quite a stretch to call her a “teacher.” I guess she’s a teacher of Marxism if nothing else....
We have to take back our public schools. We can't just keep moving and having the liberals follow, then take over the next place we go. We must fight back. Parents need to get involved in the schools and demand better.
Amen. Confront any liberal agenda. Parents must get involved.
This is a black teacher going after a white child - yet you dont hear any comments regarding this fact. This is not going away - this is the problem that we face in our public schools from elementary to university - there is NO tolerance, NO allowance for diverse or opposing opinion.
Bombard these people with mail.....

I have even considered becoming a teacher myself to counter the liberal bias ( I would probably only last a year at most with my conservative views). I still have 3 kids at home and when they are out of school, if I save enough I may be able to afford the pay cut.
I got my info from an earlier post on this topic, here it is:

This was finally on Fox News. The teacher apologized. It is still being investigated. The parents of the abused child are in support of the teacher.
Incredible.
Can you believe the child’s parents are supporting that beast?! What is this world coming too? If she were my child, I would own that school and that “teacher” would NEVER teach again.
