Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated US President-elect Barack Obama and called for "fundamental and fair" changes to US policies in the region, Iran's official IRNA news agency said.
"I congratulate you for attracting a majority of votes ... I hope you will prefer real public interests and justice to the endless demands of a selfish minority," Mr Ahmadinejad told Mr Obama in a statement published by IRNA.
Iranian officials have said Mr Obama's election victory on Tuesday showed the American people's desire for fundamental change in domestic and foreign policy from the policies of President George W Bush, who labelled Iran part of an "axis of evil".

The next four years are going to be a combination between the most hilarious comedy ever and a super scary horror movie.
I’ll just stick with “Zero”
Codespeak...get out of Iraq so we can take it. Then it's on to Israel, wink, wink.....
PS.. ZerO could forge peaceable deals between Pali's and Israel..then later break them off.
Ahmmy loves his guy....comrades!
“He will take all the responsibility. He can do that. A great man has just acceded to the most powerful job on earth. Our world is in a shambles, much of it due to Republican largesse, greed, hypocrisy, folly and zealotry over most of the last 28 years.”
Excerpt from an e-mail that I received from my cousin who worked to elect 0bama. His minions are truly spellbound by this charlatan. I’m glad we rational people exist. Our country will need a lot of us to clean up the mess the 0bamunist will create.
I’m on tenterhooks, is Obama going to be as appeasing as a Neville Chamberlain or a surprise.
“Hulloo? Booraak, mi buttee, dees iz Mahmoud! Huw ur yu? Cungatoolasuns, mun, vee diid vat vee cood do too heelp. Deed yu geet ull da munee? Vee sinnt minee chack! Oooh, reemamburr, allvay win yu haf bik nuz forr me? Yu cull rite vay, Ooh Kay!”
birds of a feather....
I vote for Obama as Chamberlain. On the bright side, Chamberelain was followed by Churchill.
Obama’s response to Ahminedajab-America or whatever his name is, from a BBC article:
“Mr Obama was asked about a letter of congratulations on his election victory from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
It is the first time Iran has offered such wishes to an American president-elect since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Mr Obama said he would review Mr Ahmadinejad’s letter and “respond appropriately”.
“Iran’s development of a nuclear weapon, I believe is unacceptable,” the president-elect added. “Iran’s support of terrorist organisations, I think is something that has to cease.”
But he also said the US approach to Iran could not be done in a “knee-jerk” fashion.”

Irans development of a nuclear weapon, I believe is unacceptable, the president-elect added. Irans support of terrorist organisations, I think is something that has to cease.
He “thinks” its something that has to cease...not sure Mr. President-Elect? Wow.
The Ayatollah Hussein IS NOT the President elect yet, and may never be. We will see what the Electors decide mid-December about supporting an illegal alien as President of the US. McCain may yet win.
