Apparently, the first dog is not happy about the impending changes at the White House.

Today, Barney bit a reporter outside the briefing room. The whole incident was caught on tape by another reporter, April D. Ryan.
Reuters political reporter Jon Decker had finished an interview with MSNBC around 10:30 a.m. when he saw Barney and his handler. After getting permission to pet the dog, Decker said Barney snapped and chomped down on his right index finger and broke the skin.
Decker said his first reaction was, "that's not good."
Decker said he was treated with a bandage and some antibiotics and was asked to return for a tetanus shot Friday. He has not gotten any calls from the White House.

God dog! stupid reporter! Anyone can look at the dog and tell it was not feeling well and was not in a good mood. The dog was holding his head and tail down. That is a sure sign of a dog that is sick or irritated. And after looking at the video it does not seem that the dog actually bit him but that when the handler jerked him back and the reporter pulled his hand back the dogs teeth scrapped his finger. How long will it be before some idiot claims that the dog is mad and that he needs to be put down?

Since it was a Reuters reporter, you KNOW Barney has good instincts.
Too bad the White House doctor gave the guy antibiotics though.
Barney gave every indication of being in a "Bad Mood", his ear and body language said "LEAVE ME ALONE, you mangy 'Rat".

Picture of reporter attacking Barney. From Barney's point of view, that's exactly what happened.

Good dog...I'd give him a hefty slice of prime rib! Bone in, of course. Only the best for Barney.

Oh for crying out loud. You are bitten by a smallish dog, you clean it out and make sure your tetnus shot is up to date. I managed doggy day care centers for a few years and got bitten at least once a week breaking up fights.
Never at any point did I ask for a White House doctor to treat a freaking FINGER wound. I really wish W had a pit instead of a scotty. While I do not care for pits, at least they would have done enough damage to warrant a doctor’s care.

Sounds like Barney knows something that Jorge needs to learn.
Dogs DO tend to bite snakes when they attack their people.

Does your dog bite? 'That is not my dog!'
Heh, that's one of the oldest jokes known to man. Still damned funny if executed well (The Pink Panther Strikes Again comes to mind).

If only Barney had bitten Keith Olbermann.
On the throat.
Repeatedly.
(Then again, Olbermann might be carrying rabies...)

How long will it be before some idiot claims that the dog is mad and that he needs to be put down? Well, to safeguard the reporter's health, they should rush him to Bethesda for a full battery of medical tests. How about a nice Barium enema for starters...

Dang. That dog is showing a clear ‘fear/fight’ reflex. In all my years, I’ve never had a dog do that, except the ones that have that strange spooky ‘look’—which I and most others (including other dogs) avoid. I wonder what gives?
