Byron York, Jen Rubin, and Michelle Malkin all have smart takes on the McCain aides' smearing of Sarah Palin. The Anchorage Daily News has a couple videos of Sarah Palin talking to the press after arriving back in Alaska, and it looks like she's more than capable of defending herself, if she thought it was worth her time. Regarding the leaks against her, Palin said:
“If they’re an unnamed source, then that says it all. I won’t comment on anybody’s gossip, or allegations that are based on anonymous sources. That’s kind of a small, evidently bitter type of person who would anonymously charge something foolish like that, that I perhaps didn’t know an answer to a question.
“So until I know who was talking about it, I won’t have a comment on false allegations.”

I sent the following email to McCain’s office. I strongly recommend that others follow suit and let him know how much we detest these attacks on her.
Dear Senator McCain
As one Vietnam vet to another, Senator, I respect your service to this nation. However, I am most displeased about the comments allegedly coming from your campaign staff about your presidential running mate, Governor Palin.
Senator, in all candor, I am not enamored of your record in the senate and wouldn’t have bothered to cast a vote for you had it not been for your brilliant selection of Gov. Palin as your running mate. And, I know that I speak for many, many of your supporters
Frankly, Senator McCain, I don’t know if you engineered this latest despicable attack on Gov. Palin, but you need to make it stop, now. It smacks of sour grapes and makes you AND your staff appear to be both classless and clueless
YOU picked her, Senator, and you better get your staff under control and suture their flapping lips shut. Governor Palin is a very popular figure among conservatives and these “insider” attacks on her allegedly from your campaign staff are disgusting and juvenile. At a minimum, you owe her a public apology
As a brother in arms, you have my utmost respect and I honor your service to your country beyond words. But, as a presidential candidate who didn’t achieve his political goal, you are losing what respect your supporters had for you. Take my advice, Senator, make it stop.

Media did great (not just some) permanent damage to themselves. - “Snuffy” Couric’s and “Charlie” Gibson’s interrogatory, juvenile pop tests were patently . . . transparent and disrespectful - - meantime, Joe (the Gaffer) Biden, locked away in “the bar” got the usual “boxers or briefs, Joe?” non-questions. When I hear Joe talking, I get a cold chill of dread up my spine . . . and the manufactured “creature” Tom Broke-off spoke about with some of his lib buddies in their little confab is somehow mysteriously . . . unknown by the elitist media types. Things scary yet? The scariest to me is that they KNEW exactly who the Obamassiah was (and IS); and what they do not yet understand is that they are the biggest “useful idiots” in the whole Marxist mess.
. . . and all this to preserve the most barbaric abortion practices known to the warped mind of man. Here’s a little tidbit . . . women have ALWAYS gotten abortions or managed to get rid of their babies as they CHOSE . . but now Buttock plans to MAKE those of us who regard abortion as godless and CHOOSE not to help pay for it with our tax dollars under the guise of “health” care, HE THINKS. God deliver us from EVIL. Let those of our “countrymen” who CHOOSE this godless practice PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES.

With all due respect, this is not a trivial matter. What is happening now is the kind of thing that discourages good people from getting involved in politics. Who wants to be subjected to this garbage, much less have their families exposed to it as well?
