After all that fuss, the system worked. There was no meltdown, no flurry of lawsuits, no statewide demands for a presidential recount.
So does that mean America's voting machinery is finally fixed? And why did it work so well under record-setting turnout?
"Panic," said Doug Lewis, who heads Election Center, a nonprofit that works with voting officials across the country. "Everyone involved in conducting elections was just on pins and needles the entire year. Over-planning really helped."

Perfect example - look at the gays protesting approval of Prop 8. Libs are such babies, they kick and scream when they don't get their way.
Bullseye!
Bingo
There’s nothing more for anyone to say.
So, if next election a Republican gets in office, all the equipment will be flawed again.
The hammer meets the nail dead-on.
Yep. “Cry Havoc!” only happens when the Leftists lose.
You're pickin' up what I'm throwin' down!
Agreed.
Absolutely right. Plus the fact that McCain rolled over like a beached whale right away (no doubt started working on his concession speech months ago). There was probably sufficient cause to have a recount but due to the weakness of the candidate, we’ll never know just how many fraudulant ballots there were and all the military votes that were surpressed yet again.
“There was only one reason the elections were smooth...the Dems won.”
Well Obamachev did win by several million votes. It’s hard to believe that the Dems could cast that many illegal votes. The election wasn’t that close.
The one nice thing a person could say about Kerry in 2004 is that he accepted defeat.
Also this was not a record setting turnout. More people voted in the 2004 election than in this past election.
However, it could be said that there was a record number of first time voters.
I assume there was plenty of fraud, but the finacial crisis and Obama’s charisma did it. Palin protected us from a bigger rout. Her future is better by losing, considering how bad the economy will get. Obama will prolong the crisis.
for another thing, there was no record setting turnout.
You should have heard Rush today. He was scaring the hell out of me with his scenarios of voting rules changes the Dems will put in place to allow fraud to rule the voting process and it will all be legal. We may have seen the last free election in this country for a long time. Think Venezuela.
I will never forget when I registered to vote in 1972 soon after getting my American citizenship. They never asked me for ANY proof that I was indeed a citizen. The democrat precinct captain came to my house in Chicago and filled out the forms for me. (I was a democrat sympathizer then). And I have a distinct non-American born accent.
Wonder how bad things now. With motor voter, register through mail, same day register & vote, no ID required to vote etc etc you betcha there is plenty of fraud out there. Why either party won’t clean this mess up when they are in power is beyond me.
Conservative (ie low end) estimates were that 5-6 million fraudulent votes were cast in 2000. Why would the Dims do fewer this time?
But not until after there was a stink in Ohio. Granted not as much of a mess as Florida in 2000, but it still wasn't considered "smooth" as this year. They even reference 2004 in this article.
They do even worse. . .

It's a 'new day' in America.
Right. Let's think about that for awhile. . .about how the repubs wouldn't act like the majority when they were in the majority..
..how John McCains bid for the President came about, how bland McCain was during the campaign..
Let's think if there is really a difference anymore..
