News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

I did not donate to McC until Sarah was selected to be his VP. If she had not been selected, I would have had $50 to spend.

The critics named above are scumbags. They cost McC the presidency—not Sarah.

I know at least 10 people, Ind and Dems, that voted for Mcwhatshisname and Palin.

I would not have voted for president in this election if it had not been for Palin.

The behavior by the McCain Staff makes me sick. Yesterday I was angry and called the GOP. But today I am PO!!!!

What theory are you referring to? Perhaps you are confusing what some campaign insiders have done, with the response suggested by the DU poster?

This whole damn thing was whipped up by Obama/Alkinsky operatives!

It's uncorroborated, third-hand, rumor mongering.

It's intended to DIVIDE & CONQUER.

Sadly, it looks like it's working

Sarah got 325 out of me total in multiple chunks...when I was planning not to donate at all...and I know I wasn’t alone.

These guys attacking her are just full of it. The paper trail shows how it worked out.

Randy Scheunemann is the one fired for helping Palin, not hurting her.

Randy is the one McCain fired for HELPING PALIN.

He didn’t fire anyone for the negative comments against her.

“It just goes to show that McCain really is the POS everyone who couldn’t stand him said he was, all along.”

Thanks! I was one of those who refused to accept McQueeg and I stayed true to my word by NOT givng him my vote.

The FReepers who insisted we follow their lead because McQueeg was the only one who could beat the Dims, were obviously misguided.

I would definitely donate to her campaign. I did not donate to McCain, I chose to instead donate to Conservative candidates in Senate races. Unfortunately, none of them won...

Sarah needs to fight back against this. Put out a professional statement, say it one time, and walk away from all the McCain SOBs

I agree. I saw Sarah in a brief clip on Fox & Friends this morning where they asked her to comment on this malicious gossip coming from McCain insiders. Sarah said that she won't comment on it until she knows who's saying it. I hope she finds out soon! And I hope she shows McCain the true meaning of his words "I promise you, you'll know their names, and I will make them famous."

Here is e-mail I just sent to McCain’s campaign

To: snelson@mccain08hq.com
Sent: Thursday, November 06, 2008 12:33 PM
Subject: refund

Ms. Collins,

This is to request an immediate refund of our contribution to McCain presidential election campaign.

Below is the explanation of the reasons for this request.

My husband and I have made contribution to John McCain 2008 election campaign immediately upon learning that he has chosen Sarah Palin as his running mate.

As loyal Republicans we have supported Mr. McCain’s quest for presidency despite our disagreement with many of his positions, such as his immigration stand, his position on ANWR drilling, and, most of all, his belief that “reaching across the isle” could benefit the Country and the Republican Party. We have supported Mr. McCain because, even with all his ideological weaknesses, he appeared to be a very descent and honest man of strong character and right values.

Our opinion was reinforced when Mr. McCain made a choice of Sarah Palin.

Now, one day after a disastrous for our country election of Barak Obama, Mr. McCain is demonstrating that we have misplaced our trust.

Mr. McCain’s and his staffers’ most despicable, dirty and misogynistic post-election treatment of Sarah Palin - a wonderful, competent woman and a leader with strong conservative convictions- clearly and unambiguously demonstrate that the real McCain is not what we thought and hoped he was. Instead of expressing public gratitude to Ms. Palin for at least giving him a chance at victory, something that Mr. McCain would not have achieved without Ms. Palin, he how allows his aides to soil Ms. Palin’s name to the delight of the main stream media.

Mr. McCain must publicly apologize to Ms. Palin and immediately fire all of his staffers spreading vicious rumors and placing blame of McCain’s loss on Sarah Palin.

Respectfully,

I agree with everything you say except that this is a real case of CYA by operatives working for McCain. There is no reason for McCain not to have defended Palin earlier today (if not last night). He is complicit in his silence and I know that these rumors were started inside the McCain camp... and I know by whom.

Fine. I could have spit nails when I listened to McCain's concession speech. His supporters worked hard for him, but all he could do was congratulate Obama. But that's who McCain is. O's camp knew/knows this and is continuing to use this to their advantage. They know McCain will "stay above the fray" and give O his moment of "glory". Perfect time to spread vicious rumors isn't it?

If an insider leaked any snippets, I doubt they expected it to be used to this level. But Cameron, and other FR trolls here (not you) have jumped on it and are dividing us from within. We need to learn who the real enemy is so we can be more effective in countering their tactics.

Palin scares the poop out of the left.

Palin also scares all the old GOP with goals for themselves.

Palin’s the only reason you got one dime out of me.

She is the only reason I would have contributed, but the top of the ticket precluded me from doing so. Had he run a good campaign himself, he might be president elect today. But, he was a "me too" opposition/corroboration to/with Barama.
