Rendell, Specter say Palin hurt McCain's chances
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | 11/6/2008 | The Associated Press

GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took some heat Wednesday from two of Pennsylvania's top political leaders.

Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell told business leaders at a postelection breakfast that John McCain would have had a better chance of winning Pennsylvania with a different running mate, and U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, a GOP moderate, rejected the idea that the Republican party might belong to Palin.

Specter said the odds were stacked against McCain, but that he should have emphasized his independence from President Bush on issues such as global warming and embryonic stem cell research. He also said Republicans should have done a better job showing that the economy's troubles were caused by mistakes from both sides of the political aisle.

Specter was asked if the Republican Party now belongs to Palin.

He flatly answered "No," to laughter and applause. He then said, "If my answer needed amplification, I would've done so."

How about it, Pennsylvania, can we retire Specter in 2010?

Fascinating, a Democrat and a RINO telling us that a true conservative was at fault. Get REAL!

No, only for the wing of the GOP that wants to run leftwards in pursuit of the Democrats.

“So, I guess it’s “Pile On Palin” season for the GOP.”

Not just for the GOP...The Defenders of Wildlife piled it on the day she was announced as running mate, women’s groups piled it on, the press and the entertainment industry piled it on.

Yes - give us more RINOs. That how the republicans will come back. /s

If I have learned anything, if Rendell does not like something — I love it.

You’ll get a Dem for sure. Arlen has his uses. I expect to see Ruth Bader-Ginsberg hand in her resignation soon. Snarlin’ Arlen is at his best in those confirmation hearings.

I know, what exactly is it about the fact that thee two don’t like her that is supposed to discourage me.

Last night on O'Reilly Carl Cameron was reporting that McCain campaign workers were saying she was so dumb she didn't know Africa was a continent, that she thought South Africa was just the southern part of the country Africa. That is so over the top rediculous.

There is going to be a serious campaign to thoroughly discredit her. She doesnt dance to the D.C. tune, and that is something that the establishment cannot allow.

“Rendell, Specter say Palin hurt McCain’s chances”

Rendell and Specter have been hurting this country for years and evidently they want to make sure they keep it up. What these jerks are doing to Palin is sinful.

“Without her McCain would have lost by 20 Million.”

Strongly agreed.

And anyone who doesn’t realize this I question them greatly.

The dems are still attacking her.

What does that tell you? LOL

Yesterday, a guy called the Howie Carr radio show (conservative talk, Boston) and said he was in touch with Palin's people -- and that she was really taking to heart these (insane) criticisms that she hurt the ticket!

Anyone know how to send her a message of support?

I will support Sarah Palin in any future run for national office. She’s has personal appeal that will serve her well when she goes up against Hillary in ‘12.

This is all got to do with the FEAR factor. The RINOs are worried about two years from now and the Dems are starting to sling mud Palin’s way in anticipation of 2012. It is so obvious to me anyway.

I am telling the Republican Party that if they don't support Conservative Republican candidates to run against RINOs in 2010 I am done with the Party.

"Moderate" Republicans demanded (and were given) carte blanche opportunity to demonstrate, once and for all, that they knew how to win at the national level, this year.

They got exactly the candidate they wanted. They got exactly the party platform they demanded. The campaign was run exactly the way they insisted it be run.

How'd that end up working out for us, again...?

They actually managed to lose to a one-term Senate Marxist with open and unapologetic terrorist ties. The ONLY thing I want to hear from Team McCain or any of its shrill little online apologists, from this day forward, is a meek and contrite: "We're sorry."

They have nothing else worthwhile what. so. EVER. to contribute to any meaningful discussion, re: either conservatism or winning electoral strategies.

It was the late-added presence of SARAH which energized an otherwise moribund and apathetic conservative voting base.

It was SARAH who drew record-shattering crowds, everywhere she went on behalf of a sour and ungrateful McCain campaign.

Friendly little word of warning to any/all RINOs out there reading this, and thinking about standing in the way between this woman and the conservative base that adores her, anytime during the next four years:

You're expendable to us. SHE isn't.
