Cantor’s a conservative.
The Repubs should consistently vote against anything the rats try to move through except the most very obviously good legislation, of which there won’t be any. The rats will want the Repubs for cover for the really nasty stuff. If the Repubs could muster one clue, and that’s doubtful, it would be to not cooperate in any way in furthering their role as stooges for the congressional rats.
Can or has anyone contacted Mike Pence’s office to see if he is going to go for leader post?
I am at work so can’t do it right now.
I was happy then disappointing when Hoekstra voted against the first bail-out then FOR the 2nd one.
I saw him on fox right after the 2nd one, and he looked really worried, like he did something wrong. Basically he was begging to conservatives that it had to be done.

Fiscal Year 2009 Priority Project Requests (Burgess)
This year I overhauled the system used to submit priority project requests in order to provide greater transparency to my constituents. In order to ensure that the numerous requests my office receives are scrutinized thoroughly and would ultimately constitute a wise use of U.S. taxpayer dollars, we will be requiring potential grantees to certify that their requests meet certain principles. EVERY individual or organization requesting a priority project will be required to fill out and sign a document and submit to my office, along with a letter on the organization’s letterhead requesting the project. Should the organization make multiple requests, they must fill out a separate form for each request. If an organization or individual does not submit the attached form to my office, does not complete the form, does not sign the form, etc., the request is automatically disqualified from being submitted.
Below are the principles that will guide the selection process:
1. All requests must be a priority for the 26th District and/or the country-at large as defined as enhancing life, liberty, or the general welfare.
2. All requests must be a proper and wise use of federal taxpayer dollars and must be justified as such. Projects that include a commitment to match federal funds will receive priority consideration.
3. All requests will be immediately posted on the website and supporting documentation made available to press outlets and interested individuals.
4. None of the funding requested will be used for a building, program, or project that has been named for Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. No request will be made that Congressman Burgess or his spouse has any financial interest.
5. All requests shall be made in accordance with House of Representatives rules, and within Appropriations Committee deadlines. No funding request will be submitted after the deadline established by the Committee
All request forms and support letters were due by Friday, March 7, 2008. From there, my staff collected and organized these requests.
Below are the 35 priority project requests, and one language request, the office of Congressman Michael C. Burgess submitted for Fiscal Year 2009, with the project name, Appropriations Subcommittee to which the request was submitted, and the amount requested, in no particular order:

If I’m correct, they don’t have the 60 votes they need to veto a filibuster. That can still take place.
Well, dear Kay, if that’s the way God wants it, that’s the way it will be, but I still think this is the time to get on our knees and start praying and petitioning Him as to what we can do. If this is truly end times stuff, we’re sunk, but if it isn’t, then we have another chance. It really IS up to Christians to vote, to pray to turn things around. Some really screwed the pooch this election cycle.

Had nothing to do with our party...had to do with the general mess the US is in....people were tired of all of Bush’s bad news......and think they saw a “way-out” and into “HOPE”.... Yep...they simply voted for a “change”!
People in general...take the path of least resistance....and that was a shiny new black guy.... a smooth talker....and cute kids who’s going to get a DOG!

McCain lost because he was trying to run as a Democrat. Obama won because he was trying to run as a Conservative, at least in broad swaths. McCain couldn’t out-Democrat Obama, but Obama did out-conserverative McCain.
Why did Obama win? The ONE key and most identifiable piece of his campaign: tax cuts for almost all. Package is important, but so is message and Obama won with a superior package, but more important, a superior message - tax cuts.
No, my friend. Obama would NOT have out-Reagan’d Reagan - or a true conservative.
If McCain had stood up against the socialist sell-out, he would have won. People were looking for leadership and got 2 peas in a pod - and THAT is why packaging won. Every lemming that ran off the cliff with McCain and bolted from conservatism out of fear should be deprived of leadership.
Leadership stands up in the face of danger. Cantor, McCain, et. al: they caved.
And there was Obama, not caving on HIS beliefs, at all.
The anger in the body politic after the sell-out was palpable. People were po’d, with good reason. Either one of the candidates could have ridden that anger right into the White House. That would have been conservative principles that this nation has a history of rewarding.
But. Only Obama could have ridden the sell-out itself into the White House. McCain could never have out-socialist the true Marxist in the campaign.
well...u have a right to your opinion....but pick up “People”....it’s what the masses read...and THEY voted for the “happy” message. These people don’t like “Dad’s” that talk about taxes and SS and war and “stuff”....they LIKE (and vote for) the warm and fuzzy.

Your analysis leaves out one thing: EVERY President elected in the last 40 yrs has been the candidate with the most consistent message on tax cuts.
The masses are idiots, but, the idiot masses don’t vote in sufficient numbers to the non-idiots. You can cut through the “People” crowd with the right message.
I submit that amazing abilities to ‘reach across the aisle’ isn’t that message.
