Rahm Emanuel, who has been chosen by Barack Obama to be the White House chief of staff, is known by colleagues as "Rahmbo" - a nickname reflecting his reputation as one of the most ferociously combative figures in Washington. Mr Emanuel, who received training in ballet as a boy, has shown no lightness of step in his political career: would-be enemies are advised to heed the story of a pollster who wronged him and promptly received a large, decomposing fish in the post. Reflecting on his own foul-mouthed, attack-dog style, Mr Emanuel has said: "I wake up some mornings hating me too." Commentators have suggested that Mr Obama, who ran a lofty campaign based on national unity and bipartisanship, has recognised the need to employ a tough enforcer to push through his policy programme.

It would be unwise to go after the Fauxmessiah directly but demonize his choices first.
Any suggestions?
Well, we better make sure there are no Fundamentalist Protestants in the White House then. They have this silly idea that the Will of the Creator of the Universe comes before all else, including country.
Rahm Emanuel's' Modern Orthodox Rabbi's CVshalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach AdonaiHe has studied more about Mohammed than HaShem.
It's akin to Short Man's Complex.
Poor Rahm. He suffers from both.
Just a courtesy ping to those directed to the post.
My opinion only, but this isn't a productive line of criticism.
I see nothing to criticize about belonging to a Modern Orthodox congregation. I've never heard anything negative about them, I may know members but I confuse them with Anshe Emet, a Conservative congregation a couple blocks away. There's nothing at all there.
His Rabbi studied Arab culture and foreign relations? Condi Rice is an expert on Russia, that doesn't imply a sympathy with communism. There's nothing in the Rabbi's academic experience, or in the congregation, to be of any concern.
Rahm is a Chicago political hack, an extraordinarily gifted one, who is not to be underestimated. In Congress his policy positions seem to have been a bit under the radar, but when he advocates positions, there will be plenty to criticize. But he's not attending a Jewish version of Rev. Wright, and I don't see any relevance in his religious choices or affiliations at all.
On a daily basis here on FR you'll see the cry of disloyal Jewbastard.
Just how things are.
This stunted ex-ballerina is probably all of 5 feet 6 inches
It will be a good cop bad cop routine where Emmanuelle plays the heavy when people can't get access to pretty boy Obama. Who will stay above the fray
Rameses IV? Pointe Man?
Ram ewe-ul
the goat
Goat? Don’t get that nickname.
I like those. There is also The Dancer, The Prancer, Smiley, BO’s Boy, Ballet Boy.
No question that Emmanuel is liberal, though not as liberal as Obama. There are some other interesting points about him in that he has defended Israel, and his father was in the Irgun, so it may be that this will lead to Israel's survival. By the way, he graduated from Sarah Lawrence College. Otherwise he was a shark.
ram, ewe, goat, they seem about the same to me.
Most Orthodox Jews are Conservative Republicans.
Yes, but not all. My point was that it's stupid issue to raise in a political context.
Read the article. They give the reason he’s so intense, at least according to his mother.
I’d be inclined to disagree. In my administration, I’d certainly have an office for a guy like him, because every White House needs a bagman, but I’m not sure I would want it to be the Chief of Staff. From my understanding, the CoS serves as the gatekeeper to the president and his closest advisor. I’d want someone with a little more substantial gravitas sitting in that chair, and even a tad bit of diplomacy. Emanuel has neither of those traits.

This is not criticism, it is simply a line of inquiry. What is Modern Orthodoxy ? It seems like an oxymoron to me. The comparison to Dr. Rice is neither germane nor productive. I would not study under a Rabbi who had spent years studying the ways of the Evil One: haSatan. I would seek out someone who had spent his time studying about the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Israel: HaShem.

This being a political forum, and Chief of Staff being a political position, my point was that this is a silly thing to be criticizing Rahm on. IMO, he's vulnerable on numerous policy positions, as is his boss. Though at this point it may be necessary to wait for proposals, because like Clinton, everything promised to get elected is history.
