Conservatives may not realize just how difficult it might be to recover from this week's elections.
The day after the big defeat, the conservative chatter everywhere was about how the "movement" and the Republican Party (two different things) could finally unshackle themselves from the bad old habits that brought them down, and about how the ability to draw a sharp contrast with the Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate would allow us to focus attention, rally the faithful, and re-storm the castle in 2010 and 2012.
Fat chance.
Too many conservatives think we've seen all this before -- in 1964 and 1974 and 1992 -- and that we know how to handle it. Fly, meet ointment: We're not dealing with the same sorts of opponents. These New Alinskyites who are taking over the White House, combined with the most leftist congressional leadership in memory, will not let us play by the same rules under which conservatives recovered from those earlier debacles. They will try to drastically tilt the playing field, seed our side of the field with land mines and, in short, rig the process to make it next to impossible for the political right, or Republicans, to recover. And they are likely to succeed in at least some of these designs.
It will begin with their efforts to secure a filibuster-proof majority of 60 senators (including the two independents). Right now the libs (and yes, all the Democratic senators, with the possible exception of Nebraska's Ben Nelson, are libs) have 56, with three Republican moderates and one conservative leading their races but awaiting recounts or runoffs. Watch for the Alinskyites to try stealing all four, and to succeed in at least two. We've seen this game before. They did it in Indiana's "Bloody Eighth" congressional district in 1984.

I believe you are right. The RNC knew there was NO WAY to win this year after the GWB disaster. I don’t know if it would have been possible. But honestly, BO was the absolute worst candidate the Dems could have submitted.
MAC’s campaign was horrible. Yet he came close.
No known method exists to

And all we kept hearing was that Obama's past wasn't relevant.
And this is why.
I am open and up-front with the kids . . . more so since Tuesday. We have an extreme socialist on the faculty, a history teacher, in the next building over. I tell the kids that his classroom is the left wing of the campus, and from now on they can consider my classroom to be the right wing.
Indeed, e Weather Underground, through their Trojan horse, has seized the reins.
Well like the RINOs, the defeatists like the author of this article need to be purged from the party. Nothing easy is worth having. The MSM isn’t fair..waaaaa. Nancy Pelosi is a mean partisan....waaaaa Obama will use his DoJ...waaaaaa. So then stay home and suck your thumb wimp. Reagan did it with no blogs, 3 networks and ALL the newspapers arrayed against him. It’s easy to get negative and give up, it’s what liberals and sunshine patriots do. I think in 4 years conservatism will have fertile ground again after years of Obama malaise, scandal , apathy and God forbid foreign policy disasters.
So did Chairman Mao.
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.

Wow -awesom.
Jimmy Carter was a fool, Barak Hussein Obama....
I'm glad Joe kept going back to what he said......Chrissy just put his head down.
Let the public know they are being manipulated BIG TIME.
It was no coincidence that the Obama victory celebration was held at Grant Park in Chicago, the scene of antiwar riots at the Democratic Party convention 40 years earlier. It was as symbolic as Hitler forcing the defeated French to sign an armistice in the very same rail car where the Germans surrendered in World War I. Even the odd choice of Obama and his family dressed in black and red was symbolic. Black and red are the respective colors of anarchism and Marxism. New Left and black militant banners of the 1960s used these colors.
The next few years will be very ugly. The American Spectator article is very perceptive.
I’d put a picture of Obama between the Ayers flag-stomping photo and the commie flag wavers, with his “spread the wealth around” quote underneath.
Jack Cashill’s invaluable work in exposing the 99.999% likelihood that terrorist “neighbor” Bill Ayers wrote “Dreams From My Father” for Obama would also make for great class discussion.
These are the sorts of things Alinskyites do. These are the sorts of tactics used by ACORN, at whose conferences Obama himself regularly taught seminars on "power." These are the sorts of policies favored by the academic left, Obama's old milieu -- the policies that favor speech codes and stolen campus newspapers and the firing of faculty for "offensive" remarks.
Normally a free press would be the safeguard - but they've converted to "Baghdad Bobs" without so much as a whimper...

Sooner or later, they will over reach. Sooner or later allegiances within the party will fracture. How well will the Clinton people mingle with the Obama peeps? How long before someone or some country or group decides to see what they can get away with? Biden said we aren't going to like how they handle it and for once, I believe him.
At some point, just like with Bush and the republicans, a line will be crossed, the luster will be gone and no number of Chrissy Mathews tingles will change that. They are simply too fundamentally radical and there are volumes of history just waiting for public opinion to find them.
