Advisers in the McCain campaign, in suggesting that Palin advisers had been leaking damaging information about the McCain campaign to the news media, said they were particularly suspicious of Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCains top foreign policy aide who had a central role in preparing Ms. Palin for the vice-presidential debate.
As a result, two senior members of the McCain campaign said on Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had been fired from the campaign in its final days. But Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager, and Mr. Salter, one of Mr. McCains closest advisers, said Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had in fact not been dismissed. Mr. Scheunemann, who picked up the phone in his office at McCain campaign headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, responded that anybody who says I was fired is either lying or delusional or a whack job.
Mr. Scheunemann was referring to widely disseminated criticism by Mr. McCains advisers in the final days of the campaign that Ms. Palin, as first reported in Politico, was a whack job.
Whatever the permutations, the advisers said they strongly believed that Mr. Scheunemann was disclosing, as one put it, a constant stream of poison to William Kristol, the editor of the conservative Weekly Standard and a columnist for The New York Times.

wake up and smell the coffee.
In fact, I do. It’s name is Conservative.
Did you elect 0bama to speak for you?
exactly !!!!
The Slimes are in full destroy mode!
I’m afraid I must dissent, I don’t believe that they’re the least bit afraid of her. Why would they be? They know that the R party has washed its hands of her now that the election’s over, and she’s expendable. Why would they be afraid of someone who doesn’t even have the support of her own party? It must unprecedented that the day after the election, a presidential candidate’s campaign is sniping at the VP running mate. She served her purpose, she’s been cut loose. She wasn’t there long enough to achieve the clout to have any support from the big boys on the Hill.
If she ever wants a future she dare not name herself senator, that is how she defeated Murkowski in AK... people angry he named his daughter.
Well, Sheneumann and Kristol have been Palin loyalists, as is Fred Barnes. As far as I can tell, Nicole Wallace, Rick Davis, and Steve Schmidt (perhaps others) are the ones who had problems with her.
You nailed it, the R party is in disarray, there’s no leadership, and the members at the top are like rats deserting a sinking ship and looking out for themselves. You’re right, there’s no Delay-type to crack a whip on them and stop this nonsense.
This story is just one more proof that there’s no such thing as a too-strong woman; just too-weak men.
The hell with Kristol and Barnes, I am sick of all the inside of the beltway guy, Barnes and Kondrake salivted for months that McCain just HAD to get the GOP nomination... they don’t have a clue about what most of us think.
it had nothing to do with my education, or lack of it. If anything, your comment was uneducated. We don’t elect flag bearers, they take a leadership role and we either support them or we don’t. That’s your only decision in the matter.
smells stale...
AS I said you do not speak for me and anyone else that I know of for that matter and I think it is a pretty moot topic, she cannot win primaries running by herself.
BINGO!!!!
