Advisers in the McCain campaign, in suggesting that Palin advisers had been leaking damaging information about the McCain campaign to the news media, said they were particularly suspicious of Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCains top foreign policy aide who had a central role in preparing Ms. Palin for the vice-presidential debate.
As a result, two senior members of the McCain campaign said on Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had been fired from the campaign in its final days. But Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager, and Mr. Salter, one of Mr. McCains closest advisers, said Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had in fact not been dismissed. Mr. Scheunemann, who picked up the phone in his office at McCain campaign headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, responded that anybody who says I was fired is either lying or delusional or a whack job.
Mr. Scheunemann was referring to widely disseminated criticism by Mr. McCains advisers in the final days of the campaign that Ms. Palin, as first reported in Politico, was a whack job.
Whatever the permutations, the advisers said they strongly believed that Mr. Scheunemann was disclosing, as one put it, a constant stream of poison to William Kristol, the editor of the conservative Weekly Standard and a columnist for The New York Times.

It’s not just Palin, she’s a gnat on their radar. They’re using this to try to grind the GOP into the dust.
With the US economy flushed down the toilet bowl, massive unemployment, taxes on top of taxes, war brewing on the horizon, the bloom will be off the Liberal rose very quickly. Conservatives need to organize and start demolishing everyone running in two years. Clean house and start over. IMO, the anger that will be seething by then will be enough to send all of the schmucks home.
IMO, the problem with Republicans is that they don’t have the guts and gonads to fight our enemies using their tactics back on them. McCain was too soft and didn’t expose the Socialist for what he is. What’s coming to Americans will expose him soon enough. It’s just too bad we all have to suffer too.
exactly! And they are using her to do it.
Do you have a mouse in your pocket?? Because I never elected you to speak for me.
I know we’ve all loved her, but she’s going to be destroyed in national politics when they’re done. She was never there long enough to get any heavy-hitters willing to expend themselves for her, and now she’s on her own. She was useful while it lasted.
Well since Mr. Scheunemann is evidently still in the employ of the McCain campaign, it would seem that the slimebags who have been spreading anonymous smears against Gov. Palin and against him ARE indeed "lying or delusional or a whack job".... or ALL of the above!
Don’t click on the link. The more eyeballs the nyt gets the more it can charge advertisers.
The media is blaming the mccaine campaign bs for his loss to cover up their biased “reporting.” As though they had nothing to do with b husseins win.
I know millions of Americans would be very interested to hear more about the dissension between Biden and Obama.
If we keep arguing. Then THEY win!!! Lets put this behind us and move on!
Take it up with fox news they reported it hours ago.
"I hate them with the heat of a thousand suns, and wouldnt spit on them if they were on fire. Id siphon gas from the nearest car."
I wouldn't even waste urine on them
I’m ready. I’m ready to vote out every incumbent, from both sides, that’s running in the next election. And if the next lot screw up, they go too. We just keep voting them out until they understand that they work for us.
Don’t get me wrong...I wholeheartedly agree. I did not care for McCain, but I LOVED Sarah.
However, this stuff is damaging to her and she needs to nip it in the bud NOW. People like Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes need to talk about their perspective, since they generally are very supportive of Sarah Palin. Also, I’d like people like Salter, Davis, and Nicole Wallace to go on the record about this as well. Otherwise, this stuff will just fester.
I doubt it, the stupid sheep didn’t even care that dear leader was affiliated with a terrorist and a racist “reverend”.
This is what happens when there isn’t a Tom Delay type running things, cracking the whip, keeping people in line, and keeping everyone’s eyes on the ball. You can’t run a campaign by committee. No campaign should accept this.
Or they are deliberate plants specifically to cause dissent and conflicts within the campaign. That this guy was a close friend of Bill Kristol’s is a good clue.
yep
Yep the liberal press see’s Sarah as danger #1. And they’ve got their guns out for her.
They’ve even pulled out the “Times Anonymous Average man in the McCain campaign” to disparage her.
