Advisers in the McCain campaign, in suggesting that Palin advisers had been leaking damaging information about the McCain campaign to the news media, said they were particularly suspicious of Randy Scheunemann, Mr. McCains top foreign policy aide who had a central role in preparing Ms. Palin for the vice-presidential debate.
As a result, two senior members of the McCain campaign said on Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had been fired from the campaign in its final days. But Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager, and Mr. Salter, one of Mr. McCains closest advisers, said Wednesday that Mr. Scheunemann had in fact not been dismissed. Mr. Scheunemann, who picked up the phone in his office at McCain campaign headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, responded that anybody who says I was fired is either lying or delusional or a whack job.
Mr. Scheunemann was referring to widely disseminated criticism by Mr. McCains advisers in the final days of the campaign that Ms. Palin, as first reported in Politico, was a whack job.
Whatever the permutations, the advisers said they strongly believed that Mr. Scheunemann was disclosing, as one put it, a constant stream of poison to William Kristol, the editor of the conservative Weekly Standard and a columnist for The New York Times.

Man, the elite media is afraid of her! That tells me all I need to know...
It’s over, you won. Give it up. Talk about sore winners.
Oh yeah, just more diabolic propaganda from the going out of business NYT. These guys never know when to quit. And any so called conservative talking to them should never be trusted.
This whole fiasco needs to be cleared up now. Sarah Palin needs to defend herself, and the people making the accusations need to come clean. All campaigns have internal sniping, however this level seems to be unprecedented. Where do these people get off trashing their own people to the press! I guess even campaign aides, although they’re all ostensibly “Republicans”, in fact have their own agendas.
Republicans have been knocked to the ground and the NYT is still kicking em’! Now this is what conservatives need to do. Knock DemocRATS to the ground and then keep kicking them - HARD!
What? No article handy about the Obama/Biden perfect marriage?
HEY you GIRL MEN - be afraid, be very afraid -— Sarah WILL BE BACK - you can count on it.
Politico is a whack job. They are agents for the DNC, and helped, enormously, in “selecting” OUR POTUS nominee. They were aided and abetted by Ed Rollins and several from the Romney camp, as well.
Palin is not the same; she’s no McCain.
If she was the same,
McCain would not have needed her name.
they are just trying to get the republican party to be destroyed from within. first the romney thing and then this. they are trying to get the romney, palin, and mccain people mad at eachother. and from what im seeing on the boards its working.
For real. They’ve won everything, and they still won’t let up. They’re trying to destroy the two party system. I hate them with the heat of a thousand suns, and wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire. I’d siphon gas from the nearest car.
No. Gov. Palin does not need to clear anything up. Why give credence to these slugs?
The election is over, let it go.
She needs to go home and take a foot bath, get a massage, and go to work running her State and planning for her future as one of our flag bearers.
She was what made this election season bearable, and I thank God for her presence during it.
Operation Leper (keeping track of so-called "conservatives" smearing Sarah Palin!)
It was the late-added presence of SARAH which energized an otherwise moribund and apathetic conservative voting base.
It was SARAH who drew record-shattering crowds, everywhere she went on behalf of a sour and ungrateful McCain campaign.
Friendly little word of warning, RINOs:
You're expendable to us. SHE isn't.
They defeated McCain and he won’t be back. But the job is not over until they destroy Palin.
lolol
Here’s hoping we see Senator Palin, soon!
Oh no, we’re supposed to be bigger than that, and gracious in concession, and bare our azzes for the boot. I almost despise our leadership as much as the other side, except I know that’s what they want. Time for that later. We’ve got to stop this mess now. Someone in leadership has got to call them on it in no uncertain terms. Wishful thinking.
I seriously want to secede.
i think that would be bad idea.
