Sorry...it's probably not even an issue. Do you really think that EVERY Republican Senator would support a filibuster?

That's not the modern day Republican Party I know.

Oh, please, that is the first thing McCain will give away if the media will just start printing, "We love you, Johnny!" again.

In addition to wrapping himself with Obama in commercials, this little tidbit regarding the War from Wikipedia

In March 2007, Smith was one of only two Republicans to vote for a resolution aimed at withdrawing most American combat troops from Iraq in 2008, the other being Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. The vote was 50 for to 48 against. Smith said in July 2007 that he would vote for a bill authorizing a timeline in which to leave Iraq. He was one of three Republican senators, the other two being Hagel and Olympia Snowe of Maine, to support the Levin Amendment (S.AMDT.2085) to the 2008 Defense Authorization bill (H.R.1585) that would begin a withdrawal of US forces from Iraq. Nice Republican uh?

I agree. I also know that the Dims will only have to find a "Gang of 6" or so to "heal" the "divided" government and "get to work for the people", and all that garbage...

Maybe so. But that still makes him a RINO...not having enough character to stand up for the war.

Look, it's wimps like this that have helped to give us 0.

Even if he were reelected, we still won't have the votes for a filibuster. On almost any issue (with this group) there would be defections.

Aside from that, if Democrats didn't get their way, why wouldn't they just change the Senate rules regarding the number of votes for a filibuster?
