Agree
Re: Alaska
It is an expensive and difficult place to live in. The gov’t pretty much owns the state.
As I understand it the oil companies negotiated an agreement with the state regarding the profit sharing and due to corruption among GOP leaders they were underpaying on what they contractually owed. Palin called them on it and made them live up to the terms of their own contract and that is where the extra money came from. I do not believe she further taxed them or imposed extra fees in any way. Anyone feel free to correct me but that is what I understood.
It is a unique state in many ways. My favorite place to be in July and August!
Naw... I think I’d rather contemplate my naval... (grin)
The redistribution of wealth thing came out pretty late in the election (right before the last debate). I know McCain/Palin brought it up, but how well was it covered by the MSM. It’s also about how it’s discussed by the MSM. Was the Obama quote mentioned with background data showing he truly is a socialist, or was it presented as just another political squabble?
We were the victims of a great PR campaign. I’m convinced a large number of American voters didn’t know what they were truly voting for.
Remember, McCain ran as he truly is...the ol’ Maverick. Obama ran as a moderate centrist, flip flopping from positions he held just 6 months before.
" 20% of REPUBLICIANS voted for Obama."
rmlew: “In other words, they are willfully ignorant.”
I don’t think that’s fair. A lot of folks don’t have the time to spend hours learning about the candidates, and if they did try to figure it out, they’d see DUmmies saying one thing and FReepers something else. How to judge what is true, especially when the MSM and your local papers sing praises to Obama? Combine that with a terrible candidate who ran a disorganized campaign and a VP candidate who was a victim of character assassination from the start? Well, the outcome isn’t any great surprise.
SlapHappyPappy: “What Obama did or did not say is irrelevant in this discussion because he didnt fool ANY conservatives.”
The “conservatives” who voted for Obama at least think they are conservative. Now you can write them off or see it as an opportunity to do better next election. Most Obama supporters I know simply do not know Obama’s radical past or write it off as politics, as in quotes/facts taken out of context to make Obama seem worse than he truly is.
Fact is, Obama DID come across as fairly moderate during the election. Fact is, McCain actually seemed further left on some issues.
Helping the poor through government action is not charity, it's a rationalization for theft. We were told to give to the poor, not force others to do so. I think my opinion about that is at odds with Catholic teaching, which isn't a problem for me, as I'm not a Catholic.
Couldn’t agree more I’m just a bit dumbfounded that Acorn’s systematic use of fraud to steal elections is so accepted and brushed off. Just a bit confused on how funding commission of a crime and more importantly violating each and every one of our right to a single vote in the name of helping the poor is a good and noble thing to do.
