Democrats gained control of the state Senate with the defeats of Republicans Bob Beers of Las Vegas and Joe Heck of Henderson. The state Democratic Party led efforts to sign up new voters in their districts and spent heavily on the campaign of Beers' challenger, Allison Copening, and Heck's opponent, Shirley Breeden.
For the rest of the Senate incumbents seeking re-election to four-year terms, they either had big registration edges or faced only minor-party opposition. Sen. Mike McGinness, R-Fallon, had no opposition at all.
In the lone race for an open Senate seat, a 2-to-1 voter registration advantage in the Las Vegas district helped Democrat David Parks as he moved up from the Assembly, defeating Republican Lindsay Madsen. Sen. Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, gave up the seat to run for Congress.

Yep, I’m still in shock from Nevada going to Bambi. I have Bi*ched for weeks that they needed to get out the vote in Elko county like four years ago. It was Elko county that delivered Nevada to Bush then.
Went to local RNC and was told they know this county is safe. Signed up to knock on doors and they never even called for help. Total screw up!
The state that has the City of Sin should vote for the should vote for the Party of Sin, or so it seems, but I know nothing of Nevada political history.
Bob Beers was defeated ? Holy $hit. He’s the best Conservative in the state of Nevada ! Their version of Tom McClintock. I hope he runs for Governor against the despicable, sleazy RINO Gibbons in 2010.

Beers was just plain swept out.
And Nevada now loses Bellwether status.
And wins Stalinist asshat status.
The losses in the House were really bad. Thelma Drake, Phil English, Robin Hayes, Ric Keller, one of the Miami Cuban brothers, and Bill Sali all lost. Tom McClintock just barely won safe GOP seat. In this climate, there no such thing as a True Blue district. Marxist Red is spreading everywhere all because the sheeple want to try something new.
Y’know, if folks want to try something new, they might try just simply drinking Drano straight up or chopping off their peckers instead. It’s a lot safer for the rest of us straights.
I thought both the Diaz-Balart brothers survived.
This morning on Fox News, they showed the Us House results. It showed Mario losing. It could be that there were absentee ballots saving Mario.

That’s assuming that Gibbons seeks another term. He’s not popular and might step down voluntarily.
I remember Beers running for Governor. I posted a few pro-Beers threads that year.

Nevada has changed demographically. Illegal aliens and California Baby Boom liberals have swarmed in.
It’s now 55-42 with all the votes in.
Not good. They’ll be gaining house seats.
Mario won by 6 points.
