Duncan D. Hunter, son of longtime Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter, has won election to the house seat held by his father, who is retiring. The younger Hunter beat Democrat Mike Lumpkin in the 52nd Congressional District with just over 56 percent of the vote. "In the 52nd District, people want to see a secure border, they don't want to see amnesty, they don't want to see higher taxes for hard working people in East County San Diego, Poway, El Cajon. They want to see the government get out of their way so they can succeed. I think that message got across," Hunter said. The new congressman-elect is a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sweet! Although I hope we have not heard the last from Hunter Sr.
Miserable night is right. But this is good news.
Thank God for that piece of great news..
I had hoped that Duncan Sr. would stick around. Conservatives need a real leader now more than ever.
Ain’t it eye opening that when you run a conservative candidate you win, and when you stray away from conservatism you get clocked! When will the GOP ever learn?

Exactly. Who said amnesty, less govt. and lower taxes were not issues?
Problem for McCain was that he had no bona fides on any of them
It also helps if your district is gerrymandered so that it has 70 percent Republican registration. :)
But let’s pretend it was competitive district if that makes you feel better.
Good looking guy, solid conservative, and military service.
If he can give a good speech, has a good sense of humor, and is charismatic he could be just what we need.
CA Freepers, keep an eye on this guy, he could be the next generation conservative to lead us where we need to be.
BTTT
My Representative, Virgil Goode [R-VA 5th] has lost (though there will be a recount) and it's a shame. Unlike Eric Cantor (who was reelected) Virgil Goode is a FairTax supporter, voted against the bailout twice and was in the empty House when the lights were out and cameras for the energy bill... Tom Perriello won with lies, is for the bailout(s) against tax reform and wants to punish success, business, corporations and raise taxes and pull out of Iraq...
Good news.
Everything I feared would happen with McCain at the helm has happened. The only bright light was Palin.
Going forward, I only want to give my support to principled conservatives. The smart guys who thought McCain was the cat’s meow have given us Obama. Thanks. I thought I’d wait at least 24 hours before thinking about this, but oh well.
We had some conservatives to choose from; they couldn’t get the time of day. This cost us. You don’t choose someone to lead the charge who can’t articulate what it is you stand for. Once we did that, all we had left was hoping someone would turn up some video of Obama having tea with Osama, and I swear if they had we’d have elected him anyway.
I’m sure Hunter Senior has better things to do with his life than get humiliated trying to lead the conservative party, but I can’t think of a better man. I hope his son is even half what his old man is.
Hunter ping
BTTT.
Duncan D. Hunter BUMP!
Congrats to Tom (who should have been Governor, if not for RINOs like Hannity), and Duncan D.
I’m glad we’re seeing some bright spots here and there.
Hooray! This is the best news I’ve seen today. I was hoping that the contribution I sent to Sr’s presidential campaign (occuring about the time he dropped out)somehow went to support Jr’s run.
