Aftermath of election in Iraq

A friend of ours from PA. has a daughter who is now in Iraq. Just told us over the phone that when Obama's victory was announced, there was a lot of cheering to be heard everywhere in the vicinity. In her words, the American soldiers there are "scared shitless". Anyone have comparable reports?

I am not comfortable posting anything that exposes our soldiers, physically or emotionally. I also have a hard time believing they are scared. I would totally expect them to be disappointed. They know exactly what this all means. Please be careful how you characterize these incredibly brave people.

They should be scared shitless. Their "Supreme Commander" is on the side of the enemy.

If you're an American soldier in Iraq, the best thing to do right now would be to buy a ticket home and not worry about the desertion charge, just get the hell out of there before OFreakJob orders them to surrender and be beheaded.

Yeah...I'm a little unclear on that as well. Care to elucidate?

I also have a hard time believing they are scared.

I can absolutely believe it.And I think their fear is *absolutely* reasonable because after the 9th Century knuckledraggers finish their election celebrations (with hookers, booze and pork chops) they're gonna be saying to each other "the new infidel says he'll be out in a year.We can drive them out in a month.Fellow camel fornicators, let's get to work".

Certainly did not mean to “expose” anything or anyone.
Just reporting the facts.
This may have been in a certain marginal area, and maybe is generally not widespread in Iraq.
Also, this is a female soldier,VERY young, but I can’t imagine
the news would be the same if McCain were elected.
This will be corroborated , or not, probably within
24 hours.
I wouldn’t expect the MSM to convey the news accurately though.

**Their “Supreme Commander” is on the side of the enemy.**

It does not matter what WE think, or even what HE THINKS. According to tradition and Muslim Law... HE is MUSLIM and the MUSLIM WORLD BELIEVES HIM TO BE. That is what we need to be afraid of.

make sure they wear their armor... and my prayers for our troops may just seem a little more ... Urgent!

Well, if Obama pulls us out, maybe they’ll be able to manage on their own now. If not, bloodshed and genocide. But it’ll be their blood, not ours. C’est la vie. C’est la mort.

My only hope is that if Obama decides to pull them out that , at the bare minimum, Powell will make sure it is done properly and safely (in terms of getting them out alive). Powell may be be a turncoat, but I don’t believe he would stand for Obama to actually make a tactical blunder of epic proportions. I realize Powell is what he is, but compared to an actual honest to god Socialist professor or congressmen running the military? It could be a lot worse. Even if he isn’t SecDef maybe he would at least tell Obama what to do.

An ill planned withdrawal could be a disaster. Though I suspect Petraeus would almost overrule Obama on tactics and dare him to do something about it. Not overall strategy (whether to get out or not) but on HOW to get out.

There won’t be a coup and they can’t/won’t change the decision, but they damn sure might change the WAY it is done if at all possible.

But then, the whole matter of Afghanistan and Pakistan is another headache that pains me to think about.

What about the 4000 plus Ameican fighting men and women that lost thier lives. All for nothing. This would be an outrage.

They said they would pull the troops out. I am in favor of them doing that now. I would prefer them home rather than serve overseas under leaders that don't support the mission.

Yes, it is a setback in the strategy, but either way its not good. Better they are home for the not good rather than elsewhere for the not good.

Yes it will be an outrage, and it will be an outrage completely lost on 51% of American voters.

What an utter waste of such heroic young men and women. They paid the ultimate price in sacrifice, and the majority here just voted for handouts.

What do the Moonbats think “pulling them out” entails? Jets lined up on the runway at Baghdad International full of American servicemen? They’d be sitting ducks for the Strela Missiles that Medvedev will supply Al Queda with. Oh that’s right, BUSH’S FAULT!

after todays move by Russia to put missiles up against Poland
Obama’s 1st retreat move will be to tell Russia, “no problem, we decided not to put our missiles in Poland.”
