I don’t know how likely it is, but it would be fine with me. Get rid of a blight on the party and give Sarah a chance to get Washington experience. Couldn’t be better.
She should be the front-runner in 2012.
If Stevens steps down now, she could appoint herself to fill the remainder of Steven’s term. At least, that’s how it works here. They wouldn’t even need an special election!
Go, Sarah!
Makes no sense for her to run for Senator. Being governor is a much more important job and you can actually get something done. Being a back-bench senator from Alaska with no seniority and no ambition to be a big porker — that’s not the profile of a senator.
I think she should appoint Joe the Plumber to finish up Stevens’ term.
She won’t run for the Senate...she’ll stay on as gov and spend the next four years making policy statements that map out HER identity politiclly. You’ll also see her criss cross the country in 2010 working to get Republicans elected to build a network and a ground game for 2012. The Rpublican primary for 2012 starts today!!!
I agree that Stevens needs to be replaced, but Palin has to know that even with this election the path to the White House generally doesn’t run through the Senate chamber.
Would be fine by me as well. I don’t care if she doesn’t bother to show up to 1 Senate session, it would give her a national podium on which to set herself up to run in 2012.
All she’d do for 2-3 years is vote “No” to stupid democrat legislation anyway and highlight their corruption. All in all, not bad a bad thing in preparing to run in 2012.
