The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace ~ What must our enemies be thinking? (former Kerry lawyer)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 11-5-08 | Jeffrey Scott Shapiro

Posted on 11/05/2008 12:02:40 AM PST by STARWISE

Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush.

The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.

According to recent Gallup polls, the president's average approval rating is below 30% -- down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, "Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust."

Those bipartisan efforts have been met with crushing resistance from both political parties.

Well, here is the thing, even if we can maintain a slim filibuster proof minority (it pains me to type that), Incoming Presidents legitimately have a 100 day window to pass legislation.

When the the new Congress is sworn in this spring, we will be in serious, serious trouble, we have a bucket of cod liver oil that we will have to drink down to the dregs, there is no way around it.

It’s bitter here goldstategop, I’m darn angry with GWB at the moment, seriously angry.

There is a time to fight and the time is now. We are all that guy in WI at that McCain rally. I'm tired of being a punching bag and my so called leadership takes it with a smile. Not anymore.

I have to agree. For a couple of years now, I’ve been wondering what unreasonable thing he’s done that could piss so many people off. But then I realize that life isn’t fair and many people are totally clueless.

Well tonight I would think our enemies are quite happy.

Judging by the fact that they've been drunkenly howling in the streets outside of my apartment nonstop for the last four hours I'd have to say yeah, they're pretty happy.

Thank you for posting this.

I am proud to say I support President Bush, and in my 4 years here on FR, nobody could find a single post of mine trashing him even when it got “popular” to throw him under the bus.

I will miss him when he leaves office.

Obama is a Nazi. They called Bush a Nazi,

Earlier tonight FOX had David Axelrod on air.

My wife said he looked like Hitler. I must have missed him earlier in the campaign, but with his hair parted to the side, and a smallish mustache, he bore a resemblance, in both our minds.

And why would he have to?? It is now a one-party rule country!! Let’s see where they direct their hate now! I think they keep it on Bush for some time, but it’s going to get old and when these international crises happen, it’s even going to become more apparent! Too late by then. This is there ship and they are taking it down. Sad that the United States has to go out like this.

Physically he does look like Hitler but ideologically even more so.

You are absolutely right.

One question I would like to ask Obama "What does George Soros want from President Obama".

True, but seriously, why is this being published the day after Obama’s win? This should have been published last month. What a load of crap.

I suspect you'll see more of this sort of "Pres. Bush is really a good guy" type articles from the MSM. It will be an attempt to diffuse the backlash that is going to hit Obama like a tidal wave. The MSM, after relentlessly pounding Bush for 8 years, is now trying to get away by saying "Hey, Bush was really not so bad. No hard feelings, right".

Well, MSM and all other leftists, forgetaboutit. You poisoned the well. I'll be damned if I'm going to have a kumbaya moment now that your puppet Obama is in. I'm going to do everything legal in my power to defeat him and frustrate his efforts.

They will direct their hate at us. Now, in four years, and after that, because we don’t think like they do. They proclaim they are big on tolerance and nuance, but it doesn’t extend to us. We are evil in their narrow minds.

I’ll bet in couple years from now Obama will have screwed up so badly that even Keith Olberman will be doing a “Worst President in the world” segment on him.
