"I welcome the challenge.
The Left will always lose these kinds of battles."

Well they SHOULD loose these kinds of battles, but I no longer have the faith in the system to believe that they WILL. I make no prediction of the outcome. I just dont know anymore. Government controlled political free speech? Now I can see the masses cheering for it.

I’m not as worried as you, my friend, and here’s why. The Fairness Doctrine is in effect at Fox and most of the major networks. The Democratic Networks puts one right-leaning guest next to 2 or 3 lefties. That IS what they mean by fairness. Sean and Laura simply have to do an inservice for Rush and a few others. Let them play their games. The strategy is simply to counter them ever step of the way.

Internet, cable television, and satellite radio will all be controlled. The internet will be the MSM new playground.

Only about 150,000 vote difference in Ohio, ACORN did their job well.
Need something to counter that one before the 2010 elections

Newt's a flip-flopping opportunist. We need some with backbone and conviction. And a monkey wrench to break heads open.

Geezzz think how bad he would have been beaten had he not picked Sarah!

Well, now that the media's favorite republican has lost, you can well bet that the media (and McCain's staff) will be blaming Governor Palin for the loss.

Frankly, I wonder if a lot of the surprise in the media isn't because nobody thought that even with the full weight of the media behind Obama, McCain did as well as he did. I'm sure that most in the media thought McCain would have done worse than Mondale.

But look for the reports that state what a great job McCain did, and it it weren't for those bad, mean-old conservatives (like Governor Palin), McCain might have pulled it off. If only McCain would have nominated Lieberman...

Executive order. With no way to over-ride it.

Talking about the "Fairness Doctrine" was a way for the hosts to get you fired up about this election. If the 'Rats try this, they'll be challenged in court, and lose. The Fairness Doctrine was a product of a by-gone era when radio was the only mass medium. With the advent of television and the internet (for which no one has proposed a similar doctrine), the notion of a "radio only" fairness doctrine went right out the window. Besides, all those "Blue Dog" Democrats will be dying to prove how "conservative" they are by voting against the F.D. (or proving how "unconservative" they are by voting against it).

Worst casing it, the F.D. would drive the radio talkers to satellite radio and TV. I wonder if the Left would like to see Limbaugh's 20 million per week radio listeners turned into 20 million a night TV viewers. They're already having a fit over Hannity's "media empire".

I was thinking about what technology can be used to overcome the fairness doctrine garbage and I have come up with is internet radio. With the internet increasingly becoming available over the air you would be able to listen to internet radio shows in your own car while driving to and from work or where ever one is going. I am just trying to brainstorm and come up with ideas just in case the worst case scenario happens and this fairness doctrine crap is implemented.

I have also found out about this new HD radio where you can have multiple channels on one radio signal. Each station would be able to broadcast multiple programs from one radio signal. Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHfPvqA7sJ8 So at worst one radio station would be able to transmit conservative radio on one channel and liberal radio on the other. With all this variety it would be impossible for the libs to justify this fairness doctrine crap!!!!!!!!!!

“...it sure as hell better contain “fairness” on the traitorous TV stations.”

I’m sure it will contain all the right weasel-words to sound fair. The MSM, et al., will just ignore it. It will only be enforced against conservatives.

There are still dems in conservative districts or states that have to worry about going too far.

What needs to be done is to welcome the idea, as long as the newscasts are included in the mix.

Equal reporting per candidate; a pro/con newsteam.

If they share time on the air, they have to pay their own bills as well. IOW, you can get the time, but you have to pay for it.,

There is a nice, short description of Committees of Correspondenceon Wikipedia.

In short...

The committees of correspondence were bodies organized by the local governments of the Thirteen Colonies during the American Revolution for the purposes of coordinating written communication outside of the colony. These served an important role in the Revolution, by disseminating the colonial interpretation of British actions between the colonies and to foreign governments. The committees of correspondence rallied opposition on common causes and established plans for collective action, and so the group of committees was the beginning of what later became a formal political union among the colonies.

In other words, the original Patriots, fighting to throw off the yoke of tyranny and oppression, needed a way to communicate and plan their actions. Committees of Correspondence were the the mechanism they set up to communicate.

Things have changed since the fairness doctrine was last in effect. I get Rush’s podcast on my thumbdrive and I plug it into my car radio and presto! Instant Rush! Since the fairness doctrine only applies to radio, I won’t be forced to listen to the Soviet response that follows.

It will be up to us to use their tools against them by filing lawsuit after lawsuit under the “fairness doctrine” to force the MSM to include conservative voices AND PAY MOUNTING LEGAL EXPENSES.

Better still, have a real “come to Jesus” meeting with the Republican Senators and talk about how to execute and support a sustained filibuster.
