New Hampshires two freshman congressional incumbents are going back to Washington on their Democratic Party's sweep of major elected offices.
U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter held off a late charge from Republican Jeb Bradley, who served the 1st District from 2003 to 2006.
U.S. Rep. Paul W. Hodes celebrated a commanding victory over Republican Jennifer M. Horn in the 2nd District.
With 11 of 12 wards in Manchester reporting, Shea-Porter led Bradley by 22,751 to 17,297.
Hodes won his home city of Concord by a 2-to-1 margin, 13,817 to 6,941.
In an election season of attacks and counter-attacks, the incumbents worked to tie their Republican challengers to the Bush administration, high gas prices, and an unpopular war in Iraq.
Both races focused heavily on the economy in the past month. Shea-Porter and Hodes each voted against the $700 billion financial bailout, arguing it did not sufficiently protect taxpayers. Bradley and Horn, meanwhile, promised to strengthen the economy through a concerted opposition to tax increases.
NH has gone native. Live free or Die? LMAO.
NH conservatives...get your moving vans booked while they are still available.
Maybe that's why the Old Man of the Mountain let himself go. He sensed this coming and didn't want to be around to see it.
The whole country has gone Marxist Red. The question now who gets Obama’s Senate seat? Will Blago appoint Je$$e Jr. or himself to escape Springfield?
NH is long gone...FWIW, I’m better off staying here in MA at this time - family is mostly here.
Seriously - as far as a place to move to goes, we should start to think about foreign countries. Perhaps there is a piece of land that American Expats could move to and have that be the laboratory in which the American experiment is continued.
I’m not joking as I write this.
Live slave or die
I should have known we were screwed when I went to vote in my GOP town...and there were no volunteers with a McCain, Sununu or Horn sign.
Down in Conn., Shays is losing big. If he does lose,
number of Republican Congressmen in the six state
New England Region:
.....ZERO.....
I hear you. I left NH just about 20 years ago now.... moved to the upper midwest where there is real freedom. I thought that they had legislated themselves into socialism back then. I guess the reason they could never see it was because they had Taxachusetts to the South of them as a comparison.
A lot of people have gone to Central and South America...most of the people that USED to live there are now in this country.
Swap out. :-)
Nashua/Salem will become ghost towns. I to have saved $$$ over the years shopping there.
I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy nut, but the asswipes conveniently made it so that you can’t simply leave the country with your fortune, about a month back.
No sh$t! Musical chairs!
NH was the last Republican holdout in New England. The Union Leader has lost its influence. I didn’t think I’d see the day that we’d go full-bore Dem.
When did that happen?
Shays is out. No big loss there, still given he’s a liberal and his opponent is a marxist he should ahve won 70% of the vote. All Rat house in New England for the first time ever. Kindly break off and float away New England.
I’m pretty sure it was within the last 30 days or so. Barnie Frank was involved.
? No Bush veto?
I keep wondering if they are ALL against us.
I give Bush the generous grade of D+ for his tenure.
