Not entirely true. The 1965 system actually favored southern and Eastern Europeans. It was pushed heavily by Italian/Slavic/Jewish congressmen/leaders who wanted to replenish their "ethnic" neighborhoods, which were seeing large influxes of blacks at the time. The main groups who came through the 1970s were Greeks, Portuguese, and Italians.

Low European birthrates mean that we won't be seeing any wave from Europe anytime soon.

—that was the Immigration Act of 1965 under Lyndon Johnson. And yes - it probably was the beginning of the end...

...glad someone mentioned the immigration “reform” act of the 60s....that was the one that allowed chain immigration thru the family re-unification provision....it was the beginning of the left’s full scale assault on the Anglo-European/Judeo-Christian culture....the culture that made America sucessful....the more 3rd world people that come, the more they pull America down....parts of our once great cities now look more like street scenes straight out of Blade Runner
