I got to the polls (I’m in AZ) at 6:30am, waitied for about 20 minutes, then finished voting at around 7am. The line was very long, but it went fast and things seemed to be running smoothly. I was a little freaked out when I saw the line so early. Every eight years I get stuck in a line to vote for president.....
How does one do that?
Glad to hear DuPage county is red. I live in Rock Island county which, unfortunately, is blue.
I’ll be voting tonight around 5:30PM. We’ll see how heavy turnout is after work.
I’m as far south in Chicago as you can be and still be in Chicago, and there’s virtually no Republican Party here. My area is mostly Polish, Serb, Croat, and Irish, with some Hispanics, and a few blacks. It has been known to support Republicans once in a while in the past, like for alderman, state senate, but is usually overwhelmingly and reliably Democratic. I expect there will be a higher turnout in the north end of the ward, which is mostly black or Hispanic. If what I saw in my neighborhood is going to be the trend for the day, the only way I can account for it is a lot of people voted early, or a lot of people won’t vote for Obama but also can’t quite bring themselves to support a Republican.
Just an addition — my son’s school is a polling place for a different precinct, and I didn’t see much going on there either when I dropped him off.
I’m just inside Waukesha county (eastern edge). It always goes deep red. There was a line out the door of the fire station, but moved quickly. I’d say total wait/vote time was 20 minutes. I carefully marked the ballot for each Republican (even if unopposed), double checked my ballot and waited until I got the green ‘accept’ light from the machine. Poll workers were trying to encourage people to use the touch-screens, but not many were doing it. Most wanted paper ballots (including me). Everyone was quiet and polite. At 9:30am we were about #350 to vote.

Can’t someone comment without specificity at first? I was simply trying to generate responses from folks. Truth is: I already began this conversation at 8:30am and was trying to stimulate further response. Sorry for not posting appropriately...
First presidential election I've been to at this precinct so I don't know if this turnout is above normal or not.
The only person hanging around outside the 100 foot line to give "advice" to voters was a Republican, but I blew him off on the way in. It wasn't until I left when I saw he was one of the good guys.
‘Weather’!
Dagone it -I do that all the time.
I was really shocked how many people were out this morning. If the folk in an non-battleground state are on the march, it’s gotta be even more so in battleground states.
GOTV, folks. We got’em on the run!
I’m here in Northern Monmouth County and as I said before a busy but efficient voting process so far.
I live just north of Syracuse, and my wife and I voted at 10AM..We were #140 and 141, at the same time 4 years ago I was number 30 something. This is a mostly red district save for State Assembly, and most of the turn out was older white people with a couple blacks

Here in Ft. Worth, Texas, all was well. No lines, mostly black workers, very friendly. Only one electronic machine, but otherwise great.
In Bowie Md., a relative reported almost no waiting, in and out in 10 minutes.
The peoples republic of MD is a lost cause, hopefully high turnout in the other states can keep us from disaster.
western morris here
In 2004, Indiana turnout was around 58%. In my uninformed opinion, if this keeps up, turnout this time could push 65+%!
That would be an UNMITIGATED DISASTER for THE ONE, and in my anecdotal opinion, WHITE PEOPLE are showing up in droves to vote this year.
The REAL wildcards here are going to be Lake (Gary) and Marion (Indianapolis) Counties.
