OK. You've gone out and voted, like a good citizen. Tell us about it.
How was turnout? Were there any problems at your polling place? Who do you think will win your local races?
Is your IN precinct red, blue, or mixed?
I hope this means that conservatives are coming out in droves. The worst case is if it's a bunch of ignorant kids coming out in droves.
Arizona—Went at 5:30, probably 50th in line...Say a young black woman try to vote for the second time after she had mailed in a ballot. Luckily they caught her. She pretended like she thought she was supposed to be there.
If Obama wins, and talk of that 401K grabbing starts, it will utterly crash the market. Because you, me, and millions of other people that dont want the govt managing our retirement accounts will just cash out and take the change.
Problems in precinct 3, Lake Orion, MI. Opened at 7:00 AM. I arrived at 6:25 and was about the tenth person in line. At 6:45 however, the line was filling up considerably. After I voted, I went to the machine to run my ballot through and was told it was broken. We submitted them in a secure place within the machine and were told that they would be submitted once the machine was fixed, after the polls closed. They did say that we could come back at 8:00 PM to submit the ballot ourselves. I don’t think there is any intended hanky panky. It’s always been an above board precinct.

Unfortunately, I think that voters in upstate NY have concluded the tail is going to wag the dog this time around. You guys really ought to form your own state, or join Pennsylvania, or something.
Voted in Philly at 7:30AM. Obama youth out in force. Black committeewoman telling everybody in line that Haliburton made the machines and Cheney owned it. I said “OK with me. I might keep my country for a while longer.” There was no applause. I was number 53 with a 20 or so line of Starbucksoid folks behind me.
..but saw none, absolutely none.
Maybe they just exit poll in heavy Dem areas so they can try to throw off the election or demoralize folks.
They need to throw her in jail!
South Johnson County Kansas, Overland Park area. Showed up at the polls about 5 mintues after they opened. Wait was about 50 minutes, everything went smooth. I had some poll watcher tell me I couldn’t bring my Kansas City Star newspaper in because it might be seen as promoting a political candidate. I politely directed her attention to the sign on the wall detailing what literature was not allowed in polling places and pointed out that newspapers weren’t included. Then I went back to reading the sports section.
Well, we did in OH early today. Everything was very orderly, took maybe an hour to get through the line. The workers were very patient and helpful. The voters were kind (helped a wheelchair person through the line) and well mannered.
Here's hoping for an outcome favorable for the good guys. Keep Ocokehead out of the WH...
Just voted in Dallas County. I refused to vote early since I wanted to savor the right to vote which has been bought and paid for through the sacrifice of many. When I arrived at 6:30am, I was seventh in line. By 7:00am when the polls opened, approximately 60 people stood in line. I was out by 7:05. There were eight election officials present who did seem to have significant elections experience - which was a relief. My observation on voter turnout as compared to 2004 and 2006, the line this year was significantly longer than either prior election at the same hour of the day.
I handed the clerk my license, she asked my address and date of birth. Painless and efficient.
She had no intention of voting this morning. She was using her body to lengthen the line and her car to pack the parking lot to discourage McCain voters away from the polling place. Now you know why there was so much early voting for Obama.
That is true. . .but here is my VA story.
On Saturday last, the wife and I voted early in Fairfax County, VA. We voted early because today, election day, I will be working a long, long day and might not make it to the polls in time and the wife needs to take care of her mother (dementia).
Here is what we observed at the Fairfax County voting venue:
All told, about 200 people were in the polling place waiting to cast early (absentee) votes.
1) About 1/3 were obviously illegals from south of the border. They had “the look.” Those in law enforcement/Customs/Border Patrol know what I am talking about. Of those, most could not speak a word of English, or at best, had very limited ability. This meant that most could not independently fill out the Absentee form as they couldn’t read it or understand spoken instructions. There was some guy that translated for them. But hey, aren’t you supposed to demonstrate proficiency in the English language when becoming an American citizen? Nonetheless, they all had a voter registration card. In Fairfax all they require to vote is the registration card, no photo ID, nothing to prove who you are, no proof of citizenship required. Just the registration card.
2) About 1/3 were other foreign nationals. Many were Asian with many more from mid-east and Africa. Many of them could not read the form and so very many could not speak English. For example, there were three Egyptians in the room, two sons with an elderly Egyptian woman that had no clue as to what was going on. Seriously. She was clearly suffering from dementia and couldn’t speak a word of English. She could not fill in the form, they put the pen in her hand and moved her hand for her. She needed assistance from her son’s to get to the voting cubicle because she was lost and confused, didn’t know where she was, and they went to the booth with her and directed her hand during voting (I could observe them, as the “booth” was a small cubicle that only hid the touch screen, not the person. I half-jokingly told my wife she should go home and get her mother’s voting card and, since no proof of ID is required, she could come back and cast a vote using her mother’s registration card. There was also an oriental woman with no English ability whatsoever. I saw her because one of the the poll volunteers called to the crowd, asking if anyone could translate for the lady. Some oriental guy translated the instructions from the polling volunteer to the lady, and then he also helped the lady fill in the form-—you see, she could not write in English. Again, isn’t there some requirement for English proficiency when becoming an American citizen? Again, why don’t we have a photo ID requirement and proof of citizenship? Such a simple thing to cut down on the fraud I personally witnessed.
3) The remaining 1/3rd we your “average” Americans.
I swear, I felt like I was in some third world bureaucratic environment, with English being the minority language and people of no obvious mental capability voting.
It was a nightmare and I truly think that soon, very soon, we will have pictures on the ballots instead of written names, just like they do in third world countries.
Truly, I fear for the Republic.
Just mentioned in another thread...just got done voting here in central Ohio and the presidential ballot was set up so Obama was the first choice and McCain was the 6th choice in the middle of about 10 choices....most of whom i never heard of
I’ve voted in this town for nearly 20 years. Longest lines I’ve ever seen. For the first time I had to wait in a line outside the polling place. In addition, for the first time I saw poll workers ask for ID for first time voters. Pretty cool.
There is no way McCain takes MA, but at least people are out in droves. I feel good about America, and bad about Obama.
The only thing worse than having your vote cancelled out by an illegal, fraudulent vote is not voting, and letting that illegal, fraudulent vote stand unchallenged.
I’m in a mixed precinct. The city I live in has lots of imports formall over the world so they have a mixed view of politics.
