Ron Paul an Official Write-In Candidate in California
Daily Paul ^ | October 22, 2008 | FlyingComic

In California, you must have 55 declared electors filed with the Secretary of State's office before you become an "official" write-in candidate for president. Unless a voter writes in an "official" write-in candidate for an office, his or her vote doesn't count.

Gail Lightfoot has been spearheading a drive to get the required number of electors, and I just got an email from her that Evelyn Mendez, Program Manager Candidates & Elections in the California Secretary of State's office, indicates we have 70 completed elector forms! Gail is working with her to finalize the 55 electors.

Bottom Line:

Ron Paul will be an official write-in candidate for the office of president in California! If you write in "Ron Paul," it WILL count!!!

Now I can actually vote for someone!

For those who want McCain to win the national election -- Obama will win California anyway. You can safely write-in Ron Paul.

For those who hate the Libertarian Party -- a vote for Ron Paul will upset LP officials who support Bob Barr.

I don't care what your motives. I only urge you to write-in Ron Paul for president in California.

Longtime LP activist Gail Lightfoot has spear-headed this breakaway faction from the LP. Many California LP members are deserting Bob Barr and will write-in Ron Paul.

And of those who hate Ron Paul -- there's nothing I can say to convince you. But don't be too upset by this posting, Ron Paul will lose anyway.

And it's not like us Paulbots will vote for McCain or Obama, or even Barr. I don't even care that you call use Paulbots.

PS: The Ron Paul write-in certification effort in California has been successful. See: http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/election_2008/certified_list_of_candidates_writeins.pdf

Be sure to vote yes on 8 while you are writing in Ron Paul.

The point being ...?

By your logic, might as well vote for Barack Hussein Obama.

The point being, since California is not a battleground state, you can safely vote for whoever you like best.

If you don’t like Ron Paul, then of course you won’t vote for him.

FWIW, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party is also a certified write-in candidate, and Alan Keyes is on the ballot as the American Independent Party candidate.

Of course, if you live in California and like McCain, you should vote for him. If not, you can safely write-in Ron Paul. Which is what I’ll be doing.

As a former supporter of Ron Paul, let me say that Ron Paul has destroyed any creditability with me by not endorsing McCain.

He is in the GOP and that is our candidate.

While the majority on this forum are probably registered Republiucans, many are conservative and the Republican nominee is not necessarily their candidate..

Well, that is fine, enjoy your third parties purity and electing Democrats.

No, but he is the candidate and mathmatically, either he or Obama will be President, period. Writing in Paul, Chuckey Paldwin, Barbara Barr or whomever does nothing but boost one's ego, giving you a little happy feeling for a few minutes.. tomorrow, it won't make a single difference to the positive, although we've seen that it could make differences in the negative as we've seen from prior elections.

Actually, with Prop 8 on the ballot, California may be a battleground when all is said and done. Early ballots show it is much closer that suspected when it came to party affiliation returning ballots.

Of greater concern to Republicans than attacking third (ie. second) party voters should be the following:

- the R presidential ticket’s apparent inability to pull in disaffected conservatives, constitutionalists, libertarians and conservative Democrats

- the fact that a nation so blessed by God could produce 50-70 million votes for a communist Chicago hustler Hussein Obama

If it will make you feel better, I will be voting...

YES on Prop 8

YES on Prop 4 (parental notification on minor’s abortion)

NO on every bond issue.

NO on every tax increase.

And like I said, McCain won’t win California anyway.

Actually is does a lot more than that.

In line with the above partisan sentiment you have to ask yourself; "Why the hell are we sponsoring a liberal/maverick as the Republican Party standard bearer?".

Unfortunately the answer is that YOU, the partisan, did it. You supported liberals, in the name of party, in an effort to win. You let principles and party traditions fall by the wayside.

Now you, the pragmatic partisan, are reaping what you sowed. As was recently published by an infamous spokesman for your opponent: "Your chickens RINOs are coming home to roost."

Actually, I supported Conservatives in the primaries, but the primaries are over- to keep fighting that battle is to ensure defeat greater than what can be overcome in the election cycle.

BTW, I didn’t support the Moderate Libertarian either (by definition a RINO).
