I personally like Hitchens. But when he’s wrong, he goes off the deep end. He has sensitivities that renders an otherwise good mind incapable of thought.
He supported the Iraq war. If Obama wins the US makes tracks out of there, maybe at a rate that damages our success. Doesn't he see that one thing is related to another?

Just had someone a work defend her vote for Obama by telling me that NcCain was going to die in six months. My response was that his 96 year old mother is still occassionally campaigning for him and narrated his convention bio. I then asked her where Obama’s mother was and after she told me she was dead I asked where his father was. I told her that his family history did show a long life especially since Obama smokes. Her response was to shut her door. I guess she shouldn’t have stirred that one up.

Hitchens just couldn’t help himself. He knows another far leftie when he sees one. The lure was too strong. Leftists have been waiting decades for a genuine Marxist to show up, and now Obama meets their expectations. His criticism of McCain and Palin is just a smokescreen. Now he’s burned his bridges on both ends. The only thing left (no pun intended) for him to do is to collapse into the abyss.
As quick-witted as Hitchens is, his judgment can never really be trusted: no truly thoughtful person, no matter how young and passionate, would ever have worshipped at the altar of Trotsky.
