Say Goodbye to Media Freedom Under Democrats
Pajamas Media ^ | November 3, 2008 | Bernard Chapin

Conservatives have traditionally sought to suppress pornography and vulgarity, of course; the political left has done this too — one of the leading advocates of regulating the video game industry, for example, is Hillary Clinton — but it adds to that a scary desire to control political speech completely at odds with the ideals of the American Founders. Controlling political speech is to suppress criticism. A world in which conservative talk radio was a diminished presence would be a world in which liberals could enact their preferred legislation more easily, whether this was higher taxes, further restrictions on campaign finance — which John McCain has always promoted, but which the left has been the prime driver of — and on and on...

Acorn’s abuse of local banks sounds like the model. You will respond to “community needs,” or else.

The cultural cold war goes hot.

Information is the “ball and powder” of today. This is a line we can not allow to be crossed.

While the Fairness Doctrine would end talk radio on AM radio, it likely would not affect non public subscription media like satellite radio. Another option would be Internet radio hosted on foreign servers. Foreign based radio stations broadcasting in shortwave or even radio stations along our borders in Canada and Mexico are also an option. Ironic that the USA might need the equivalent of Radio Free Europe to spread the truth over the Obama curtain.

Obama is consciously and with malice taking us down the same path as Zimbabwe and Venezuela. The systematic destruction of the economy will be the main objective after he is on the throne.

Why would the American Hugo Chavez care if the reduces the GDP of this country by 90% in the next 8 years? He and his left wing cronies won't starve, won't go cold, woun't be terrorized by exploding crime. They will be sitting, Scrooge McDuck style, with mountains of looted wealth that took us generations to build up.

To a Marxist dictator: Misery = Power.

This is a line we can not allow to be crossed.

If 100 million American patriots cannot successfully resist the extinction of our freedoms, then we are in much worse shape then I thought. Led by Rush et al, we should launch such a massive campaign that DC would need to impose martial law to stop it - and it can all be done legally. We need to use our telephones non-stop to call government officials to express our opinions and concerns - for months on end. As soon as we know cell phone numbers and home phone numbers, the campaign can be extended there. Likewise, we need to use email effectively. In concert with this communications campaign, we should plan to converge on DC in waves of 100-500K people per wave to ask for redress of grievances. In other words, we have weapons, legal weapons that we can use to make sure that our position is clearly heard and understood.

The totalitarians are going to have to do something about FOX News - maybe they could write up a special Fairness Doctrine clause just for them.
