Arab-Americans overwhelmingly support Senator Barack Obama for president. So do Jewish-Americans. One of these two groups either does not care much about the Arab-Israeli conflict and/or is stupid. My money is on the Jews.

Well, I was thinking how to respond to this. One way is to say that you can have an IQ over 150 and still be a political idiot.

But I don’t think that entirely explains it. I think it goes back to the old question, “Who is a Jew?” Is Jewish identity a matter of racial inheritance, or is it a religion? Or both?

Almost universally the Jews who are stampeding after Obama are like the Catholics who plan to vote for Obama. They are not really Jews, in the sense that they do not keep the Covenant. And they are not really Catholics, because they are disobeying central teachings of the Church about right and wrong.

We see what that leads to in the Old Testament. It leads to blindness, destruction, and exile. St. Thomas says the same thing about Catholics. If you violate your religion and if you choose to turn away from God, then you will render yourself blind. You can be the smartest guy around, but you have rendered yourself blind to the most essential thing in life.

I work in an industry heavily populated by Jewish family owned businesses. Mention anything Republican and they go rabid. They cannot see the antisemitism so prominently on display in the Democrat party.
It amazes me. I do know a few who are closet Republicans. They hide this fact from all but a few of their closest friends.

My Jewish friend overwhelmingly support BO. I cannot get thru to them. It's like a "cone of silence" descends upon them when I tell them anything negative about "The One"...........They refuse to listen to anything..........

The "cone of silence" decends on many of my former friends too...this election is different; those former friends...I now consider socialists and enemies of freedom....so F____em...

My family of 4 Jews are all voting McCain. So are orthodox Jews. All in all, it should be the best Jewish voter turnout or a Republican candidate in memory.

If the frikkin LA Times would release the Khalidi tape, maybe we'd finally break 50 percent for McCain in the Jewish vote.

I think the problem is that Jews have encapsulated themselves in a cultural cacoon. They live and breathe liberal ideas and go out to dinner with liberals and read liberal newspapers and blogs. They must have a large appetite for leftist propaganda. Prager always says that Manhattan liberals live in a sealed liberal environment. Many of those liberals are Jews.

I think you are right. I bet many of those who say they are Jews are not religious Jews. If the distinction between racial and religious were made I think we would see very different numbers..

Most Finnish Americans are descendants of Finns who arrived in the 17th Century ~ about 200 years BEFORE the crowd you're thinking of.

As a consequence persons of Finnish origin (in whole or in part) turn out to be the very core of the Republican party.

Most of 'em don't have any Finnish surnames, nor do their old family stories reflect a Finnish origin.

What flaw do these wonderful people have[?]

Ask the question obout Catholics. If all Catholics voted against abortion, abortion would go away and no pro-abortion candidate would ever be elected. I think most Jews and most Christians simply like the thought of their religions. It's secularism during most of the year and religion lite on Holidays.
