If you read the article, you surely noted that even the Young Republicans were embarrassed by this group’s repeated stunts.
FWIW, I have strong ties to A&M, love the school, and am most impressed with the quality of its students.
Being rude simply doesn’t win votes. I haven’t been brainwashed, just taught good manners. Didn’t your mother teach you about flies, honey, and vinegar? If not, perhaps she should have.

They can have their free speech. The complaints are ones of taste, and I personally wholeheartedly concur. This kind of stunt is very childish, it plays into “personality cults”, and frankly it doesn’t do the conservative image very much good at all.
Throwing eggs at a picture of the “one” may be emotionally very satisfying, but I doubt its going to change many people’s voting habits - and that is much more important.
And that's why the Young Republicans are the least effective collegiate organization known to man. In my experience, the Campus Republicans/Young Republicans are always apologizing for this and embarrassed by that - always playing Stepin' Fetchit to the campus left.

And your "manners" will be the death of the conservative movement. Look what President Bush's "manners" did for him. Look where John McCain's "manners" have put him. Understand that the militant left is using your virtues against you because they know that they can. They know that you'll play by the Marquis of Queensbury rules while they use the no-holds barred cage fighting rules. They know that symbols matter and that if they can restrain you while they can do what they want they will eventually win the ideological battle. They know that if they can make Obama a sacrosanct figure while Bush and McCain become targets of mockery that over the long term they can delegitimize them more effectively than your unread anti-Obama pamphlets can delegitimize Obama.
Understand something about the militant left - nothing is about reason with them. You will never win an argument with them. It's all about feelings and their internal emotional states not about any sense of reality. It's why every totalitarian state is concerned to the point of obsession about iconography - it's a means of conditioning you to accept tyranny as a fundamental truth. It's why desecrating the icons of the totalitarian state is seen as the supreme crime - it breaks the spell and makes totalitarian government impossible.
The event also included a ring toss where Halloween masks of Obama and Hillary Clinton were posted on sticks as the target. It was called "Socialist on a Stick."

I disagree strongly. “Manners” will be the saving of the movement, not its death. The good book says “be as wise as serpents”, not actually BE a serpent. If the conservative movement stoops to the level of the opposition, if it uses the same tactics, the same levels of ridicule, manipulation and spite, then ultimately it will become the opposition. What is the point of saving us from these people, if we have to become like them to do it?
I understand that the militant left uses our own virtues against us, but that is the reason (and actually the main reason) why I am against them. It’s also the reason that most “moderates” and “undecideds” will be against them too. The pollsters ask the wrong questons, and the mass media treat the masses with utter comtempt, but people are more astute than they think. They take note not only of the message but the way the message is delivered.
Militant left people are really repulsive. I don’t mean their policies, I mean them personally. And people (voters) register that. Do not be fooled. How we think and the way we transpose that into action matters more even than winning or losing an election. Those who use lies and hate and subterfuge will eventually become sneaky, hate-filled liars.
Oh I’m not concerned about the militant left. Nothing changes their minds, they’ve reached the point where the hate is so ingrained it blocks anything else from getting in.
I’m more concerned with persuading Joe Average on the streets. Stunts like this might rally the already convinced, but they are not going to reach out to anyone else.
TAMU is a very conservative campus and probably has more people in the military than any other college. GIG’EM!!
Wasn’t there an Egg thrown at Bush’s motorcade back in 2001? I think Michael Moore had it in his movie or something, and praised the thrower!

I dont want to beat the demons of the left only to fall to the “demons of the right” What enemy are we fighting? What is it in communism that is so ugly? To me, it is its certainty, its godless humanism, its assertion that Man by his own efforts can make all things well. It is its aversion of personal responsibility and its subordination of the individual to a collective whole that sucks out all creativity and difference, that makes the vibrant color of Humanity and melds it into a dull shapeless gray. Communism is not the only political system that can do that.

That’s different, and well you know it. Throwing eggs at effigies of Obama is uncivilised, uncouth behaviour. Throwing them actually at the president himself is perfectly alright because it is a creative expression of “youf” and symbolises its rejection of war, wealth and greedy multinationals. Besides Bush is the epitome of all evil and thoroughly deserves it.
Remember that “good” and “bad” behaviour are only relative and exist only in context. Please try to keep up.

I'm heading down to College Station this weekend to attend the Aggie vs 0U game... my prediction: TAMU 32; 0U 30.
I cannot wait to get my dose of Freebirds, Dixie Chicken/Dudley's/Logans, Chicken Oil, Double-Daves, tailgating, etc. (I go to one game per year in order to keep it "real").
