There is a Context?

Obama spokesbot says this was taken out of context: “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”

Can we shut down the coal industry?

Yes we can.

Can we double everyone’s electric bill?

Yes we can.

Can we shut down the economy and put aluminum workers out of work?

Yes we can.

Can we ship even more jobs to China?

Yes we can.

Can we have China burn even more coal not as cleanly?

Yes we can.

Democrat Barack Obama’s admission that he will use regulation to bankrupt the coal industry is a bombshell that teh San Francisco Chronicle sat on for 10 months.

What he said: “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”

From your lips to God’s ears, diefree. Indiana may go blue this year—and our number one source of energy is our own coal. I am dumbfounded at the level of stupidity displayed by folks here, and have no doubt that they will be the first in line for “help” (from me) with their skyrocketing electric and heating bills.

I don’t understand how ANYONE in Pennsylvania can vote for Obama. It’s like saying “Yes, I want to pay higher taxes all the way until the time that my job gets regulated out of existence!”

What the heck are they thinking???

We need to get all the e-mail and phone/fax numbers to all the News agency's in the coal states of Virginia , Ohio, Pennsylvania and Colorado and give them a proper Freeping.

I will try but I have to get all my little conservatives to bed, school tomorrow.

Am I the only one who recalls Joe Biden telling that woman on the rope line in Ohio that “We are against coal power plants”?

The lady asked Ol’ Joe about it...

The "build a coal power plant" is taken out of context, because we will tax the emissions until they are "bankrupt" applies to old and new plants.

Fact: Obama will increase your Electricity Bill, by increasing emission fines on the Coal Industry until they go "bankrupt"

McCain will save you money, both on your Electricity Bill and your Petrol.

It’s pretty clear Obamao/Blather are not fans of coal use, nor coal plants, that means how many thousands of well paying jobs are lost?

You would think this would be a total dealbreaker in Pennsylvania. Obama is essentially promising he’ll destroy their local economy, that’s a hell of a promise to make if you want to be elected.

I read it in context. No matter what context you put it in, it is what he said. Sure, shutting down existing coal power plants is a dream but obama likes to make his dreams come true. Preventing new plants before we have something to replace them with it totally irresponsible.

Fifty percent of Illinois relies on coal for electricity.

As worldwide temperatures go down, all we can do is freeze in the dark.

Could not agree more. Everoyne has their own hotbutton points. I would imagine those that depend on coal as a livelyhood would find these comments really disturbing.

I wonder if they are enough to break through the kool-aid induced haze?
