Commentary borrowed from another website:
If McCain wins this election it's going to be through a strong, grass roots volunteer effort. McCain can't beat Obama on money or boots on the ground. Obama's doing his best to buy the election with his millions, some of it from questionable sources.
But we can help overcome Obama's money advantage by going to work for McCain--from the comfort of your own home! You can sign up on the McCain/Palin website to use your free cell long distance to make calls to voters in swing states to urge them to vote for McCain/Palin: http://www.JohnMcCain.com/PhoneBank.
They provide you 20 numbers to call and a script that's quick and easy. This is a really great way to get involved with the campaign, especially for those of us in deep blue states like I am.
You can pick the states you want to call too. I recommend Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Missouri Colorado and Nevada. I rotate from day to day.
It only takes about 30 minutes to make 20 calls. And you really feel like you're making a difference rather than just helplessly letting the election play itself out. I'd say a half hour a day is a small investment to make to save the country from Obama's radical vision.
Remember, the military is working 24/7 to protect us. Let's put in a half hour a day to protect the military.

Here are some script ideas...
Hi, I and I just wanted to mention that
Recently, a bill was introduced by Congressman George Miller, democrat of CA to eliminate the tax deduction of 401K contributions and force us all to pay increased taxes. The law would obviously increase downward pressure on the stock market, though forced 401k liquidations.
John McCain would veto this bill. Instead, he will get our economy back on track by allowing a 10% tax credit for R&D investments and accelerated equipment depreciation to create jobs, especially through small businesses.
As a McCain volunteer, I hope we can count on you support November the 4th.
[Are you interested in this issue?][or end here if leaving message]
He will reform Washington by going after Freddie, Fannie Mae and Acorn.
He will break our dependence on foreign oil, which will cut prices at the pump. McCain will employ an all of the above strategy to diversify our sources of energy.
On defense, Obama will help Barney Frank cut spending by 25%, eliminate the missile deference deterrence and negotiate with Iran without preconditions. No wonder Biden highlighted that Obama would be tested by foreign powers in the first six months of his presidency.
[Best script for NH or seasoned citizens]
As we are all feeling the pinch of higher energy prices and John McCain will lower energy prices through increased production in a environmentally friendly way. Obama will discourage employers to maintain health coverage for employees through unreasonable mandates. The increased demand for existing government healthcare, such as Medicare and Medicaid will create shortages of both doctor and facilities.
Since, Obama has changed on his commitment to use public financing, he has an enormous money advantage and it is only through grass roots efforts that we are able to get the word out.

I just say, “Hi, McCain/Palin volunteer. Just calling to remind you McCain has the experience to keep the country safe and fix the economy by keeping taxes low and letting you keep more of your hard earned money. Thanks for your time. Take care. goodbye.” It’s fun! I try to keep it short and sweet!
Yes I think the script they have is too long. I wonder how many people will want to listen to that long comment.
I did send the link about 0bama’s “make energy prices skyrocket” comments to some TV stations. Hope that does some good.
My 16 year old son is off from school tomorrow and will hit the door running at 7:00 am to knock on doors asking people to vote for McCain/Palin. At least I raised one of my kids right. My daughter is voting for Nobama. She was “one of us” until she went away to college last year. Now she’s a liberal and it hurts me to my core.
Hey, that’s a good idea about energy prices. Yesterday I made calls in PA but about halfway through, they switched me to Colorado. Today I volunteered for Virginia, but again about half way through they switched me to Colorado- maybe because I sound like a Yankee. Don’t know what that means, but it’s fun and I feel like I’m doing something.
Less than 48 hours!!! One final push to save the U.S.A.!
The challenge:
Between NOW and election day, convince at least two Obama/Undecided voters to vote for McCain. (family, neighbors, friends, people waiting in the check-out line) Further, convince these two people (or two others) to take up the same challenge. (Like a chain letter)
So you have converted people in the past? Good, but we need more!
Many Obama supporters are mindlessly supporting him, with no real reason, this means it is VERY easy to get them to switch over. Even if you fail, other Obama/undecideds may be in the room and hear valid arguments and question their faith in the One.
Don’t kick yourself a week from now saying “I could’ve done more....”
Do your part...your country depends on it!
This doesn’t take any time at all and it’s easy!

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
We are manning the local phone banks, but we need more help in many areas of the state! The GOP does not bus in ACORN workers and leeches on the public dole. Most of us have day jobs, which creates more of a staffing challenge than the Dems have. We rely heavily on retirees.
They asked me to do 8 hrs. on the phone bank tomorrow and at least 4 on Tues. because we are so shorthanded. No matter where you live, you can help your fellow swing state hostages!!
I’m working Nevada. Can someone take Pennsylvania?
Okay, I HATE harassing people at home, but I just made 12 calls. The last two convinced me to stop because they were strong McCain supporters in Virginia who had already received 10 calls. One woman assured me McCain/Palin had her support but angrily asked if they could please just watch their football. D’oh! I do better standing on street corners at sign waving rallies...
Bookmark for Sunday evening and Monday afternoon and evening calls.
I live in Maryland, think I’ll call my Pa brethern.
Or if you can, get to a Victory office. Much more targeted stuff is going on there. We were able to save a whole lot of late absentee ballots today.
People want to know feel are important and appreciated. They're not going to stay home just because they may have gotten more than one phone call.
PING
Yes, I know. I've received about 12 of them in the last two days. Not that I'm discouraging the calls, but I've stopped answering the phone.
This is the fault of the campaign. They organized the phone list. They know who is called and when. They know the response from the last call. If their system is allowing people to be called more than once a day they need to fix it. If a state has had enough calls, they need to recommend a different state. They should also prioritize the states: Where do you need the calls? Where have you had too many calls? Focus the calling volunteers where their efforts will be productive in generating electoral votes.
