Jesus fought the state and was killed by the state. He never advocated distributive justice or state ownership of the means of production.
Black Lib=Afro-Nazi
Jesus loved the poor but those at the time were not non-producers, drug addicts, gang members or lazy. They worked hard and tried to improve their family status. Even Jewish farmers with wealth left a part of the crops for them to help our. That is not classic Marxism. That is compassion. Nor did Jesus want the state to run an individual’s life. He never told people just to sit and allow others to take care of them. Peter was a fair fisherman and others were workers like Matthew the tax guy. I think liberals like Jim Wallis of Soujourners and Tony Campolo want to mix the govt. in with the Gospel and that is simply not Biblical. Prot. Evangelicals on the Right also must avoid the Govt. but must still engage in public information and guidance to ensure Biblical injunctions on compassion, standards, and forgiveness must be stressed. You are very right my friend.
Paul wrote to the Thessalonians “He who does not work, neither shall he eat.” Interestingly enough, Lenin it is the first principle of socialism, as well as a Biblical injunction. I guess it depends on the definition of work.
A Christian does not need the state to confiscate his property to redistribute it. A Christian will reveal his faith to others by "fruits of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22-23).
In fact Scripture tells us doing business for a profit is not bad, but do it wisely (Leviticus 19:36, James 4:13-15, Proverbs 6:6-8, Ephesians 4:28, Ithes. 4:11-12, 2Cor. 12:14). It is what we individually do with our profits that reveal us for what we are.
For example, McCain has adopted a child, his wife has been involved in numerous charities. Obama has never given more than 4% of his income to charity (usually 1% or less) and has supported infanticide. We should know these people by their "fruits".
Supporting a state taking from one person to give to another person does not make us Christian.
**Jesus fought the state**
What do mean by ‘state’? State of religion, or ‘state’, as the Roman Empire?
Yes, if he was fighting the ‘state’ of religion. The scribes and Pharisees were devoted to head knowledge of God, but there was no heart. They demanded his death.
The Roman Empire was not his kingdom, for his kingdom is not of this world. He even paid taxes to keep the peace, so to speak.
He said the ‘poor you have with you always’. So, one might conclude, that the rich is always present as well.
IMO, God’s communism is,”what’s mine is yours”; while man’s communism is, “What’s yours is MINE!”
Jesus fought the state and was killed by the state. He never advocated distributive justice or state ownership of the means of production.
Next question.
Amen. When God says “give and it shall be given unto you...” He meant for you to have something to give, and not for the state to take it all.
Jesus said that we should willingly and lovingly help our neighbor. He even said that if we give plentifully but without love that we cant please God.
But, government taxation and wealth redistribution is quite the opposite.
In my opinion, Jesus most certainly would not forcibly take from one to give it to another.
It is our job to help others in need, not the governments. Therefore, it is my opinion that Jesus is not a socialist. There is nothing loving about thee sterile welfare state, and if we have not love, we cannot please God.
1 Cor 13:3: And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. KJV
If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it but if I didnt love others, I would have gained nothing. NLT
When the state attempts to do the job of loving and caring, it not only does a poor job, as an institution cannot love, it also discourages the people form loving and caring for each other, because the government is in essence saying that its not our job, its the job of the state.
Again, just my opinion, but I think the Word supports it.
