How to Check the Voting System on November Fourth
Me | November 2, 2008 | RetSignman

Posted on 11/02/2008 8:22:52 AM PST by RetSignman

As everyone knows this election is open to voter fraud. One of the frauds or weak points in the election process is being allowed to vote again after voting early or by absentee ballot.

For the people who have already voted early or by absentee, go to your voting precinct and submit this letter along with your registration card to the poll worker:

I am here today NOT to vote but to check to verify if I'm still on record as being able to vote today. This request is not to defraud the voting system but ONLY to ensure the voting system is working properly.

Approved to vote________________________ (poll worker)

NOT approved to vote____________________ (poll worker)

IF you are approved to vote on November 4, go to a poll watcher and inform them you have previously voted and have been told I am still on record to vote again.

This will ensure that not only if the system is working ,in your case, as it should but also if your vote has been recorded.

I have been poll watching for McCain-Palin in Florida during the early voting period (which concludes today). It's been well run and without incident in the locations where I have been observing in Palm Beach County. It's also been very busy - with average time waiting in line to completing the vote of about 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Which, in the elements here in FL and for elderly voters is no trivial thing. With the heavy turnout for early voting, some believe it will be a normal or manageable turnout on election day, others expect a tsunami. I don't know what it will be - but I do know that the last thing that polling places need are a bunch of people who have already voted, standing in lines and clogging up the polling places to ask that question.

When I voted last week, they stamped “voted” by my name in the book. I used to work in the county clerk's office so know that they verify the book with the signature page so hopefully there will be no discrepancies.

I see your point but the long lines are caused by voters actually voting. I know in my state there are amendments and options to be considered and that takes up more time.

The process of just checking on your eligibility to vote is much less time consuming.

That, requiring picture ID with same address as registration, rooting out voters with false ID (they catch truckers with multiple drivers licensees so I suspect some voters do the same) would cut down on voter fraud. I would also like to see voters issued a “ticket stub” for their vote. They could view their vote using this number and challenge (signed affidavit, threat of perjury) if their vote is not right. This would add a little more “threat of detection” to anyone changing votes. Remember a vote negated by a fraudulent vote is a VOTE STOLEN.

Not to worry.

In our state, the list of eligible voters is marked "early voter" when an early ballot is voted (in person) or is requested by mail.

If the voter shows up at the precinct to vote in person (either after they've voted in person at the election office /or/ have requested a ballot by mail and have lost it or said that they didn't get it), they will be allowed to vote provisionally where the ballot is placed in a signed envelope along with other paperwork with the voter clearly identified. The provisional ballot IS NOT counted if there is one already received (voted in person at the election office /or/ if the mailed in ballot which is also in an envelope is returned to the election office).

Bottom line is that there are safeguards in place to ensure someone doesn't vote twice and their ballot(s) are counted twice. They may try to vote twice but only one of the ballots is counted (the provisional is not counted). Same process applies to those who claim that they're registered--allowed to vote a provisional ballot and then whether it gets counted or not depends on the research afterwards as to whether they're registered.

I think they should include ten questions from the Naturalization Test and weight the vote by the percent correct.

One of the frauds or weak points in the election process is being allowed to vote again after voting early or by absentee ballot.

I'm about 20% through marking our early voters. We had 40% early turnout here which means I have over 2000 voters to mark in our precinct. If someone is watching, it helps remove the temptation to embellish the record. More likely though, would be for people trying to multiple vote to present ID for another person or try to get the workers to accept them without ID. This is why it's important to have a Republican election worker in every precinct.

Exactly. This is why all those fraudulent registrations scare the hell out of me. Someone can vote early in their actual name, and then vote on Nov. 4th with a fraudulent name. Even if the officials think it’s suspect and have them fill out a provisional ballot, it is fraud.

If the race cannot be called on election night because of ‘late returns’ in heavily urban/black areas, the needle on my fraud meter pegs. If we’re seeing 30-40% of urban blacks vote early, I don;t want to hear about keeping polls open late and ‘disenfranchisement’ on Tuesday night.

But I’m sure we will.
