Obama Camp Enraged over Wright Ad; Over $8 Million Raised
GOPtrust.com ^ | Nov 2,2008 | Scott Wheeler

Message from The National Republican Trust PAC
From Scott Wheeler

Dear Supporter:

We have now raised over $8 million in our final emergency effort to stop Barack Obama.

I can tell you that the Obama campaign is absolutely enraged by our activities and our new ad reminding voters of the close relationship between Rev. Wright and Obama.

Two of the major TV networks have temporarily suspended our ad because of complaints by the Obama campaign. They have complained about the pictures used in the ad depicting Obama and Rev. Wright.

Our legal team is fighting back. We expect to be back on the air!

Other pro-Obama supporters are claiming Obama was not really that close to Rev. Wright and that we are exaggerating the relationship.

The facts: Obama has stated that he was converted to Christianity by the Rev. Wright in his late 20s. Previous to that, as a child Obama had been raised by his stepfather as a Muslim.

Obama has described the Rev. Wright as a mentor, friend and advisor. His description, not ours.

Obama stated he could not reject Rev. Wright any more than he could reject the Black Church.

Again, his words, not ours.

All of Obama's attacks indicates this ad is having a powerful effect.

We are planning a final, major effort Monday night on television in key swing states and on Tuesday morning.

Anything you can contribute today will help our important cause.

Time is absolutely critical. Help us defeat Obama — Go Here Now.

Thank you.

Scott Wheeler
Executive Director

P.S. Don't believe the polls. The AP recently asked poll respondents if they really were undecided and might still switch their vote. One in 7 — nearly 15% — said they still really hadn't decided. This means the election can still be won by McCain. Obama can be defeated. You can help us make that happen by Going Here Now or call our donor hotline at 1-866-957-1467.

If you are going to trash McCain, don't do it here where people are giving everything they have to elect him.

John McCain is facing enormous obstacles. He is being outspent six to one. He is of the same party as an enormously unpopular president. The economy is in meltdown and the entire media establishment is completely in the tank for Obama.

That McCain can still win is nothing short of a miracle of politics and his campaign should be heralded for its efforts.

I don't want you anywhere near me when I am outnumbered and fighting for my life. Wave your white flag and crawl into the enemy camp begging for mercy. Just get the hell out of my foxhole!

I don't like the smell of the soiled underwear of a defeatist.

If Obama is elected, those who voted for him will have the leader they deserve.

The REAL problem is NOT that he will be President but that he will have a left wing congress who will push through his and their socialist policies including putting in Supreme Court justices that will destroy our Constitution right under the very noses of the Fourth estate who will protect him at every turn as he dismantles our society and destroys our nation.

There will be absolutely NO CHECKS and NO BALANCES.

I already told my dad that. He keeps saying that it will be all over Tuesday. I told him I didn’t think so.

You have to remember that the battle is for the remaining 10% of undecideds not for you and I. This group has illogical immature notions about politics and political campaigns They complain negative campaigning (Yet by any measurement they work!)and they also complain about the partisanship in Washington. With partisanship there are no politics which would mean no disagreements. The only places where such governments exist are dictatorships. McCain has to have the appearance of being “presidential” being above the fray. Hopefully Obama takes the “bait” and looks “partisan”.

Just made a second donation to the Republican PAC for this ad. Dick Morris feels it is turning the tide.

The enemy is at the gate and we are down to the final two and a half days in the battle where we will or will not allow the White House to be won by Barack Obama and his Marxist comrades. At least until this battle is over next Tuesday, all McCain bashers should read the writing on the Claymore. .... Polybius

That is trashing McCain? Pointing out the obvious. McCain was unwilling to run the campaign that it takes to win. .... Always Right

The enemy is charging our trench line in a Banzai charge. Both sides know that this is the time that the battle will be won or lost.

You spend your time "pointing out the obvious" to everybody in the trench line that Lt McMillan is an idiot and a jerk who is a horrible platoon leader, does not know what he is doing, is a coward, stole your pay, kicked your girlfriend and raped your dog and every last word of it might be true.

Is that "trashing"?

Maybe not. Maybe "trashing" is too mild a term for it.

True or not, it's just, for all practical purposes, giving aid to the enemy by demoralizing those in the trenchline that are prone to defeatism.

Save the cr@p for Tuesday night after the last poll has closed.

No matter how things turn out, you will then have four entire years to get it all out of your system.

The Ad you’re speaking of is running but I only heard it on FM radio here in Miami. Joe the Plummer advocates for McCain and slams Obama’s spread the wealth mentality. Too bad it’s not being run on television also.

I wish people would get the history right. Hitler's accession to power came about as a result of obscure and complicated inside politics. The Nazi party had 33% of the splintered Reichstag, it is true, and after being named Chancellor by Hindenburg (Hitler was not elected to the office), Hitler's cabinet had only three Nazis among its twelve members. Hindenburg and Hitler's rivals thought they had him boxed in, and the communists boxed out.

The fatal error was that the media and others took Hitler lightly and thought he was merely a charismatic demogogue who could be controlled. The communists thought he was a bungler and a buffoon who would be easy for them to knock off when they would seize power themselves.

Hitler however followed the example of Lenin and moved with lightning speed to disable his opposition permanently and sequester all the centers of government power under his control.

The media was less influential then but Hitler's support grew most rapidly, interestingly, among the student movements and academics. Business followed Hitler first becaue he was not a communist and second he promised strength and stability at the time of the gathering great depression.

Sobering parallels. This is where the threat to America lies today. If Obama is elected he will follow suit--together with the Pelosi-Reid-totalitarian clique he will act suddenly and without delay to cripple American democracy. By 2010, elections will be a total joke, FR and the "alternative media" will be history, and we will be under seige in our own land.

Obama is a liar and I am fighting back the urge to say “This country deserves what they get if they vote this sociopath in”. I’m fighting it real hard.

Me too - I hear ya!

I aplaude McCain for not wanting to do this himself as he is an honorable guy.

Are you saying it's not honorable to tell the truth about a man?

That’s an amazing ad. If a Republican had the same friends and allies as Obama, we’d be seeing ads like this 24/7.

Had this ad been run 3 weeks ago, a torrent of free advertising via the DBM would have been unleashed to counter an defuse it.

Good analysis.

The media has been so in the tank for "the one" nothing about him has been reported. If the wright ad had run earlier in addition to "the one" countering it the media would have been all over how bad it was to run it.

It's probably too late to run ads on how "the one" has been his brothers keeper for his step brother in Kenya, his aunt in the Boston slum and his grandmom on her death bed.
