George Will: All Shall Not Be Lost
townhall.com ^ | November 02, 2008 | George Will

Posted on 11/02/2008 5:54:35 AM PST by kellynla

WASHINGTON -- By midnight Tuesday, millions of conservatives probably will believe that the nation, foundering on the reefs of sin, is ruined. And millions of "progressives," emboldened to embrace truth in labeling by again calling themselves liberals, probably will have decided that Heaven is at hand, the nation revived like a flower in an April shower.

In any case, political numeracy can illuminate the hours before midnight. So as Tuesday's numbers accumulate, here are some benchmarks to bear in mind:

The House of Representatives currently has 235 Democrats and 199 Republicans; the Senate has 51 Democrats (including two independents who caucus with the Democrats) and 49 Republicans. Republican losses on Tuesday should be measured against the aftermath of two debacles a decade apart.

President Lyndon Johnson's 1964 landslide victory over Barry Goldwater produced a House with 295 Democrats and 140 Republicans, and a Senate with 68 Democrats and 32 Republicans. The 1974 post-Watergate congressional elections produced a House with 291 Democrats and 144 Republicans, and a Senate with 60 Democrats, 38 Republicans, one independent who caucused with the Democrats and one Conservative Party member who caucused with the Republicans.

I still don't believe Obama will win on Tuesday. Heck, even the Clintons & the Clintonistas aren't gonna vote for him...it ruin's Clinton's plan to run in 2012 if Obama is elected POTUS.

But, if Hussein does win, I predict that the pendulum will start to swing back to the Right and beginning in 2010 the GOP, with the help of true blue conservatives, will start to gain the majority again and Obama, like Carter, will be a one term president.

LOL...after the first 100 days, no Republican will be elected nationally in our lifetimes.

We MUST win this election. George will conceding defeat prior to the damn votes being cast doesn’t friggin help matters, but then again, nobody likes George Will anyway.

I hope George likes his new stash of cash provided to him by the Obama donor network. George Will is dead to me.

George Will is only worried about one thing: losing his access to the Washington and New York “A List” parties, and his TV talking head slots.

He can go to hell, along with the other RINO Quislings Noonan, Brooks etc.

George Will is a quisling and has been for a LONG time. He has sucked at the teat of the mainstream media for decades. It is time for him to go.

Obama, like Carter, will be a one term president.

I'll be honest, I don't even think that he will last that long. BHO will overstep his bounds, and piss even the Dems off. There will be a massive scandal of some sort and he will not have any support. The old school Dems in Congress will see Biden as a more controllable option and kick BHO to the curb.

“after the first 100 days, no Republican will be elected nationally in our lifetimes?”

I heard the same thing after JFK, Jimmy Carter & Bill Clinton were elected POTUS.

This election is separating the sheep from the goats. It’s making all the cockroaches run out into the light.

The highway to the left has no speedbumps if Obama wins....and two years when the hardleft Dems have carte blanche, is a long long time.

If they overreach with their socialism, then 2010 will be the first opportunity to smack them down, just like 1994.

Not this time. The difference is the 20 million former illegals who are already amnestied citizens since Carter, and the 20 million new illegals who will be amnestied before the next election.

Most of these parasites could not give a raton's culo about the founding principles of the USA. They only care about socialist redistribution of wealth.

They are a solid lock to vot 'Rat forever, no matter what happens to the economy. Most of them are too stupid to understand enlightened self interest and deferred gratifications, the twin pillars of Western civilization. They will vote for any 'Rat who promises more free welfare checks, AKA "tax cuts" for those who don't pay taxes.

Goodbye USA, hello USSA.

While I share your belief that Chairman Milhouse will not win, I don't agree on him ruining the Clintonista plans if he does. Makes more sense that by him winning, Her Heinous would remove her biggest threat—Sarah Palin—from national interest. Once in office, they can then empty the garbage can they have on him which would get Milhouse out of the way and give Her Heinous a clear path to winning in 2012.

Have some more Kool-Aid, George.

Go back to baseball.

Maybe a double date with Peggy Noonan; or is Kathleen Parker more your type?

And BTW, the season's OVER.

Cheers!

I disagree, as laid out in 16. It’s not the same country it was after Carter.

What in the world happened to George Will? Did he and Peggy Noonan go out drinking the Obama Kool-aid together?! This man has a Down’s Syndrome child, why in the world would he support the “Obamanation”?
