I find this more dramatic than what he says about bankrupting the coal industry:
The only thing that I have said with respect to coal, I havent been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as an ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way we should pursue it.
So, no matter what he says, coal is out from an ideological standpoint, not whether or how much it pollutes. So he doesn't even want clean coal.

"So, no matter what he says, coal is out from an ideological standpoint, not whether or how much it pollutes. So he doesn't even want clean coal."I would say you are 100% correct. This is further evidenced by these statements:
Obama states:..as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it
but then he also states:every unit of carbon or greenhouse gas that was emitted would be charged to the polluter.
In other words coal would be allowed as long as CO2 is not produced.
Question for Zero:
How can coal be used to produce energy without generating CO2?
Anyone who is fooled by this Marxist is a complete idiot.

So he doesn't even want clean coal.Pet Peave of mine, there aren't any "dirty coal" plants these days. They are a thing of the past.
Flue gas is cleaned before it is emitted. CO2 is not a pollutant.
The RATS and the radical left have demonized both of our best energy solutions, coal and nuclear. The masses have taken the hook and will be in the frying pan within our lifetime.

Doesn’t this affect the steel industry? Don’t they use coal to make steel?

Who thinks the plan is to only bankrupt the coal industry? The only industries left will be the film industry and the left wing media. Other businesses will become collective; a word I swear I heard BHO use in the last few days.
