Seattle Paper Publishers Pictures and Addresses of Homes With McCain Signs

Like Obama, the folks that run The Stranger "newspaper" in Seattle are all about tolerance... as long as you believe the same things they believe. If you don't, well, then you deserve intimidation and a good "outing." just as Obama has tried to intimidate radio talk show hosts, just like he has tried to use the office of the Attorney General to quash political free speech, The Stanger publication has decided that the best way to force citizens of Seattle to toe the far left political line is to have their homes photographed and their addresses made public for the outrageous crime of having a McCain/Palin sign on their property.

Editorial Director Dan Savage, another boring Seattle gay activist, has helmed this intimidation disguised as "humor" in order to attack his political opposition. Good thing ol' Danny is all "tolerant" and stuff, isn't it?

The feature was supposed to be a "funny" take on the Halloween "horrors" of homes that have political signs prominently displayed. But, what the end result actually relays is a different kind of horror. This article indulges in exactly the sort of behavior it pretends to despise. What is more intolerant than publicly ridiculing someone, ginning up hatred for them, and then publishing a photo and the address of their home? What is the purpose of this? Is it so that the more unhinged of your putative political compatriots can know just where to go to... what? Take revenge? Perhaps damage private property? Maybe worse?

The article starts off with this phrase: "Cobwebs and witches are for children and morons." I would counter to Dan Savage that political intimidation and endangering people because of their views is for Stalinists and Nazis.

Apparently Savage is not only this editor's last name, it is his creed.

Briefly, here's what happened:

  1. The Stranger is a Seattle based free weekly "alternative arts and culture newspaper" with a decidedly homosexual orientation. You can get a brief summary of the rag here and you can see a brief bio of its editor here.

  2. As a Halloween prank, the rag published the names, addresses and pictures of houses in the Seattle area who displayed McCain/Palin yard signs. Of course, they never intended for their readers to engage in any holiday vandalism.

  3. Drudge picked up The Stranger's story and gave it considerable (and what now appears to be unwanted) exposure.

  4. At least one blogger decided to repay in kind by publishing the addresses of the Stranger's staff. You can read his reply here. Be forewarned: the blog contains offensive, adult language.

  5. Following the blog post, The Stranger promptly pulled its story and redirected all traffic to Drudge's home page. However, another blogger captured the article before it was removed, redacted the McCain supporters' names, and published it on his site. You can see it here.

  6. The Stranger's staff are now claiming the blogger should be charged with contributing to a hate crime (because he published their addresses) if anything bad happens to them.

As noted by NewsBusters, tolerance only goes so far!

If it’s anything like the free rags here in the Bay Area i could only guess that 7 people read the crappy paper.

It’s sad, but I’ve always been afraid to put up signs or bumper stickers. If I were supporting Democrats I’d have no problem, since Republican’s tend not to engage in vandalism.

Not if you live in Oklahoma. I have seen about five Obama signs and McCain/Palin signs are everywhere.

You reckon this might be one of the reasons why the polls are picking up so many undecided voters at this late stage in the election?

Could it explain at least some of Barry's lead?

Might it result a surprise or two this Tuesday?

Well, yes, that makes sense. I live in AZ which is moving heavily Democrat as we speak. It’s not the land of Barry Goldwater anymore. Even Phoenix isn’t as conservative as it used to be. Hayworth lost his House seat, and he was pretty good.

A taste of what’s to come under the coming thugocracy of an Obama administration if we don’t get off our collective duffs and vote!

I’m not sure why people who are claiming to be undecided when they are really going to vote for McCain don’t just completely lie and say they’ll vote Obama.

I liked Hayworth too. He even fought the “comprehensive immigration” b.s. I couldn't believe he lost.

You guys have too many Californians moving in. Isn't it funny? They move to get away from high taxes, crime, illegals, etc., yet they vote the same liberal way, turning their new home into the same sort of money grubbing slimy slum they left. It has happened to some neighborhoods here in Oklahoma too.

I think alot of them are. And alot of McCain voters, too.

I always tell lies to pollsters: it’s fun and if enough people do it, it screws up their numbers. If their numbers are badly enough screwed up, then their Clients get mad and *that* hits them in the pocket.

Muck-with-the-pollsters is a game that I play, along with muck-with-the-telemarketers and muck-with-the-Jehovah-Witnesses. It is a full-contact sport and I am reigning world champion.

You see, to these people Time is Money. So the objective is to spend AS MUCH time with them as you possibly can, while giving them NOTHING, or even better than nothing, FALSE INFORMATION. The more time of theirs you waste, the less time they will have to spend on your neighbors: so it is also a socially responsible and neighborly thing to do.

Those are the rules, now GO PLAY!

Wish they did this here.
As they use their 1st Amendment right, I would use my 2nd Amendment right on the bottom feeders that resulted from their action.
Ah, good times, good times....

Now you can see exactly why newspapers are written and published for the reading level of a 13-year old...

The left is despicable. When some leftist wacko trashes one of these houses, this rag paper will claim that they had nothing to do with it.
Leftists are crazy bastards.

I don’t think that means anything - Obama voters are bussed in don’t own property etc... they will out vote us if we let them.

I predict in the next few years, this “Cold War” is going to get hot. We will see media figures and politicians pay the price for their arrogance. They have long felt as if they were untouchable. I’m afraid many are going to learn a painful lesson.

I live in a well-off neighborhood near Tucson. The first signs up were for Giffords and pro-gay marriage. Our signs went up a little later.

Tucson was my home town, and I returned after 25 years in the military. A few things shocked me when I moved here.

First, many of my neighbors are recent transplants from the NE and about an equal amount of Californians.

Second, they all WANT higher taxes...at least, that is how they vote. I haven’t seen any tax increases turned down - after all, we need to have better schools! And how about a 12 mile long sidewalk along a street that has never had anyone walking along its already wide borders - gotta have that!

Third, they want to run my life. This place has the least restrictive CC&Rs I could find - which is why I bought here. Once the builder turned it over to the HOA, the newbies tried to pass “Architectural Guidelines” on everything from what hours you could work in the yard to what color you paint your home.

The other homeowners were able to shout them down, but they still go around the neighborhood trying to find things they can complain about.

Notice at trend? They move into a place with no restrictions, and try to impose themselves on everyone already living there...

And fourth?

They are all unhappy. They complain it gets hot in the summer. I asked one man what the public schools were like where he came from, that he didn’t know southern Arizona is a desert. Another complained he wanted to live by the ocean. WTF,O?! You want to live near the ocean, so you buy a house a thousand miles away?

Oh - they also suggested at a recent meeting that horses be banned. I told them I’d take them to court and kick their butts like a soccer ball if they tried...

Liberals! Working hard to ruin a place near you!
