My friends, it's John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election. Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on "Saturday Night Live," the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.

Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook.

Changing how he speaks; changing what he believes; changing what he considers to be middle-class.

I guess he’s about change after all...

“...we would have to know what attracts him to Obama...”

That’s the problem ... he isn’t attracted to Obama. He is totally ticked at Republicans/Conservatives. Claims we say one thing, then do another, or put forward a plan (say school vouchers) but when it doesn’t work right away, we quit. Liberals/Democrats don’t give up after their plans fail on the first go, they keep at it, beat us down, and accept gradualism. With Republicans/Conservatives, it’s all or nothing, and if it’s nothig, pick up their ball and go home. Kind of hard to argue with ... except I don’t see voting for Obama and the Dems as a viable alternative.

Yeah, and think of how many meals or articles of clothing the poor here in America could have got with that 700 grand?

Hannity says its down to 42,000 because that’s the tax bracket that Obama voted to raise taxes on last year.

I haven’t seen the schedule yet - what is it?

Watching SNL now - there’s Cindy! This is a terrific skit.

To me, the “Change” slogan is not a goal: It’s a demand.

Oh, that was cute! After Mac did his “Live from New York,” Tina Fey gave him what looked to be a genuine smile.

I saw that ... I saw a real difference in Fey tonight, in how she played Palin and in her interaction with McCain. She was shrill before Palin did SNL... not so tonight.

Funny - right after I posted that, I found this on the PUMA site:

“John McCain’s skit was cute—shilling 10 plates commemorating the town hall debates with Obama (all blank). I think I detected a genuine smile from Tina Fey directed at him at the end of the skit, probably for being such a good sport!”

Hey MO got a 6 figure pay raise at her hospital when Obama became Senator, making those poor patients pay more for her service. How compassionate?

I think SNL this year has been as even-handed satirizing the presidential race as any mainstream comedy outlet I can think of. The person who consistently gets the short end of the stick over there is Joe Biden.

I always took their caricature of Palin more as a satire of the way Elitists (especially East Coast Elitists) view Sarah Palin rather than an actual mockery of Palin herself. However, it might be that, since the show is largely written by East Coast Elitists, they're unaware of the disconnect.

Or maybe not. My sense is that a lot of the SNL cast are PUMA's. They'll go after anyone who stands in Hillary's way, or at the very least, they'll see humor where a die-hard Obamabot would not.

Earlier this year, Tina Fey gave an interview where she said that she'd tell everyone she was voting for Obama, but that she'd secretly vote for McCain. She might have been kidding. However, I'm hopeful that she tapped into a vibe which is common among the electorate.

As for Geraghty, all I can say is that it wouldn't be the first time this year that someone from NRO left me scratching my head. At least he didn't make some bizarre leap like "I thought Palin was treated poorly by SNL, so I'm voting for Obama. Sorry, dad."

Well, it is hard for us to accomplish our goals when we have a democratic senate and congress. We are all perturbed at Bush's spending... no one abandoned vouchers but the dems, McCain has ALWAYS been a huge proponent of school vouchers...Always!!!

Also does your son know Cindy was a special education teacher when he met her? And look at what Palin accomplished in Alaska! That pipeline was in the dreams for 30 years and the oil companies blocked it; she got it through in 20 months! Tell your son not to paint McCain/Palin with the last four years. I don't know what happened, it seems when he lost congress and the senate the President sort of faded into the background. I was and still am against this $700K bailout... and wish McCain had stood up to it, but Obama voted for it, too.... now it seems what I thought would happen with that damned bill is happending, Paulson is using it for a Goldman Sacs piggy bank.

Something to tell your son, McPalin will finally bring new people, new blood to DC instead of the same people who have cycled in and out since Nixon.. and O will bring back the Clinton people and the crooked Chicago machine and have Nancy and Harry to rubber stamp his socialist plans for USA.
