LOS ANGELES, October 31, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) Jeff Kent, 2nd baseman for the L.A. Dodgers, donated $15,000 to the Yes on 8 campaign last Monday.
Yes on 8 promotes the passage of Proposition 8, which is an initiative set to be put before the Californian public this November 4 that would define marriage as being between one man and one woman. Yes on 8 has had steep opposition from the No on 8 campaign, and both sides have spent over $30,000,000. As the L.A. Times reports, Proposition 8 is by far the most expensive ballot measure this year in any state.
Kents donation to the campaign is timely. The No on 8 campaigns recent acquisition of wealthy benefactors such as George Lucas and Ellen DeGeneres has endangered Proposition 8, as LifeSiteNews.com reported on October 22nd. Both parties are putting a major portion of their funds towards television advertising.

I always liked Jeff Kent. He was one of the only people in baseball unwilling to put up with Barry Bonds’ crap.
Anyone that would thrown down with Barry Bonds in the dugout had my vote already. Even if he is a Dodger. GO ANGELS!! :oP
Television and newspaper reports Friday linked the former 49er to the ballot measure because of yard signs in front of their Palo Alto home urging citizens to vote no on the proposition that would ban same-sex marriage in California. Barbara Young also has donated nearly $50,000 to defeat the measure.

"I am very passionate about this issue and Steve is completely supportive of me and my work for eqaulity (SIC)," Barbara Young said in a statement to the Mercury News after midnight. "We both love our Church and are grateful that our Church encourages us to vote our conscience. Steve prefers not to get involved politically on any issue no matter what the cause and therefore makes no endorsement."

God Bless Jeff Kent for that ... both for the money, and being willing to step forward and be counted.
He won’t be receiving any invites to Hollywood cocktail parties, be assured.
Awesome! Thanks Jeff. :-). Yes on 8 signs all over my neighborhood. I just moved here so I feel very good about my neighbors :-). Of course there are the very few no on 8 signs which kill me as they say something stupid about equality for all—LOL. These people will try any amount or any kind of honey to push their immorality on everyone.
I’m not a Dodger fan and my wife is from Giants country, but good for Jeff Kent.
Isn’t he a potential free agent?
Boycott everything she does.
Wow. Way to go Jeff.
