Death trap. A Honda Civic gets better gas mileage and is safer (scores well in crash tests), and isn’t that much more money
I recently had a new Honda Civic coupe and got rid of it due to quality issues. The fuel economy wasn't all that hot, either. I'm not familiar with Nissan's car, but I wasn't too impressed by the Honda Fit. Maybe the newest version of the Fit is better, though.
A Honda Civic starts at half again the price. Civic’s base price is $15,205, and it gets either 25/34 or 25/36 depending on the transmission - not all that much better if you drive freeway, and worse if you drive city.
The Versa also gets four stars in all four NHTSA categories:

So it’s not a deathtrap, either.
“Death trap. A Honda Civic gets better gas mileage and is safer (scores well in crash tests), and isnt that much more money.”
Correct. The Civic is an excellent car. Even larger cars like a Toyota Camry can gets 32 MPG, seats 5 comfortably, has a trunk where you can put luggage and in a real world crash test will provide more protection.
If folks want a micro car, more power to them.
I drive '92 Metro. 1000cc, 3 cylinder. 50+ mpg all day long, and it's been paid for for 16 years. Still here.
Civic starts at around 60% higher so not sure what you mean by “not that much more money.” It is a good car though.
Buy a GEO Metro, live dangerously. I owned one, was like a speed bump with wheels.
WRONG. Nissan has safer cars than Honda, and the Versa is highly rated for it’s safety. I own a ford so I’m not pimping the Versa for personal reasons, but I’ve been looking to get a new smaller economical car that’s safe, and I’ve done the comparison.
