Listening and watching Ken Duberstein over the years, serving a number of Republican Presidents, I always felt that his heart wasn’t really in to defending the GOP. This only serves to confirm my analysis. He was never a true friend of Conservatism...no, he was a product of the 1970’s and the Gerald Ford wing of the GOP.

Didn’t Duberstein assist Ford in giving us that ultra-leftist Associate Justice John Paul Stevens? “I have just begun to surrender” Stevens.

— You’re exactly right, Smorch. Lobbyists bend with the winds to make the big bucks

“the Gerald Ford wing of the GOP.”

Gerald Ford was never as liberal as NY’s Republican Senator Jacob Javits, which is where Duberstein started his career.
Anyone who can swing from supporting Jacob Javits to Ronald Reagan and back over to Barack Obama clearly cannot be accused of having a very firm political philosophy. Can one imagine a Ronald Reagan exhibiting the same degree of ideological “flexibility”?
