San Francisco Examiner had run some exposes on Jones' Temple but the editors discontinued the series in 1972, after being threatened with a lawsuit, by Jones' Lawyer, Timothy Stoen.
HAD those craven editors at the Examiner not surrendered to Jim Jones and allowed the investigation to continue, the "rest of the story" would have seen daylight and over 900 could have had a chance.
Other SF papers were afraid to investigate.

And not only that, the SF Chronicle or Examiner REFUSE to acknowledge the existance of these 1972 stories and how they canned the series out of fear of libel lawsuits. These stories included "survival camp" where a young boy got sick and vomited and was forced to eat it. Another dealt with Jones teaching a night class (I believe it was) where he spoke about topics like masturbation and called one student an S.O.B.
