JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — More than a third of Mississippi counties have more registered voters than residents old enough to cast a ballot, according to an Associated Press analysis.

In addition to providing ammunition for people who say the voting system is vulnerable to fraud, the flabby voting rolls may make it difficult to accurately determine turnout for the Nov. 4 presidential election.

"There is no reason in the world why some of these counties should have more registered voters than they have living, breathing people," Mississippi Senate Elections Committee Chairman Terry Burton said.

This is slightly old. I did a title search and didn't see it, though.

"Twenty-nine of Mississippi's 82 counties had more registered voters than people of voting age. Alabama has a similar problem — The Birmingham News found that six of 67 counties there have more registered voters than people of voting age."

It is old, but not sure if it was posted either. Gov. Riley (Ala.) made a public statement several weeks ago that any illegal activity at the polls will be punished. I hope all States are on alert, ACORN has left a long trail of fraud across the country.

Except for voter fraud.

Teacher, teacher, I can think of at least one good reason why it may be so.

The reason is the Motor Voter Act.

Makes it extremely easy to fraudulently register , makes it difficult to purge even the deceased.

The Democrat history like Chicago and Detroit. “Vote early and vote often” as they say there.

If Obama wins this in a close one, the day after the election results McCain should be demanding that every voter be checked for legitimacy, and every legitimate voter should be standing behind him like a gigantic angry mob. In this day and age of computers voter integrity should not be too difficult.

I grew up in MS, and even to this day, things move very slowly, especially in government. I read another article stating the Secretary of State found hundreds of registrations from 1965 that were never used. Almost 500 people registered were 105 years old!

Apparently, most of the rolls haven’t been purged since the Civil Rights Act. Since then, the Feds have had to OK anyone who gets dropped, so most election commissioners haven’t fooled with it.

We don’t have Voter ID in Mississippi, and I can’t stand it. We prosecute store owners for selling cigarettes to people without proper ID, yet a Photo ID “be rascist”.
