Sen. John McCain and the Republican National Committee will unleash a barrage of spending on television advertising that will allow him to keep pace with Sen. Barack Obama's ad blitz during the campaign's final days, but the expenditures will impact McCain's get-out-the-vote efforts, according to Republican strategists.
McCain has faced a severe spending imbalance during most of the fall, but the Republican nominee squirreled away enough funds to pay for a raft of television ads in critical battleground states over the next four days, said Evan Tracey, a political analyst who monitors television spending.
The decision to finance a final advertising push is forcing McCain to curtail spending on Election Day ground forces to help usher his supporters to the polls, according to Republican consultants familiar with McCain's strategy....

McCain needs to address Social Security fears. He can’t afford to lose the over 55 vote.

McCain has always said he’s a firm believer in the ‘last 72-hours’ of a campaign. Now, let’s see if it was Straight Talk.
I am a little discouraged that the article mentions less of a GOTV operation. That’s our key — without it, we could be in trouble.
This is the Washington Compost though. So who knows where they dig up these ‘Republican Strategists’.

Mac just did in Ohio...said that it's Halloween and every election the Dems try to scare seniors on Social Security. He then told them that the Dems want to tax their 401(k)s. It was a great rally.

McCain needs to address Social Security fears. He cant afford to lose the over 55 vote. He Absolutely needs to address it. If you can believe the polling, they have the seniors switching to Obama because he's been bombarding the airwaves with social security scare ads telling them McCain is going to invest it in the stock market.

That’s bull. McCain’s own camp (sorry I’ll find the link later) said they are AHEAD in their GOTV efforts compared to 2004!

Good to know snarky! The one place Rove really shone was his GOTV operation.

Here is the link to the thread where they have a quote about the GOTV this year:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2120376/posts
Here is the quote:
Heading into the crucial final weekend, Republicans say their operation is even stronger and running ahead of where they were four years ago at this time. They say their targeting is more efficient, their workers more experienced and their technology better. The McCain campaign, using an operation funded by the Republican National Committee, has already made 19.6 million phone calls this year nationwide. Thats more than 2004, says Mike DuHaime, Sen. McCains political director. And 2004, he says, was the gold standard for turnout.

“McCain needs to address Social Security fears. He cant afford to lose the over 55 vote”.
...maybe. I believe he’s got to hammer security and BO’s complete lack of ever managing or directing anything, much less being “Commander in Chief”!!!

McCain needs to get on the air waves this weekend and assure Seniors. The economy looks like it's going to crash - and those who are too old to work have reason to be afraid.
McCain needs to point out Obama's lies - and tell older people that Obama is lying about helping older citizens.
Obama will help the same people he's always helped - dem victim groups. And old people ARE NOT A DEM VICTIM GROUP.
The only group on social security Obama cares about are the fake "disability" people - the one's using it as Welfare.

McCain should give his money to groups running Rev. Wright ads, like
our FreepShop ad, which is running in PA this weekend. His own ads are pathetic.

Our guys need to go beyond 401K’s. Lots of seniors don’t have 401K’s. The older ones have pensions and social security. And that’s what they care about.

Problem is 1/3 to 1/2 of the population has already voted if Mac reaches one of these that voted for BHO. Tough they have already voted.
Last 72-hours dont have the importance it did just a few years ago.

Some pundit was telling the Friends this morning (Dick M.?) that Mac was doing well with young people because they hate the idea of “spreading the wealth around” whereas the seniors were shifting to Barry.
