A growing number of voters have concluded that Senator John McCains running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, is not qualified to be vice president, weighing down the Republican ticket in the last days of the campaign, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
All told, 59 percent of voters surveyed said Ms. Palin was not prepared for the job, up nine percentage points since the beginning of the month. Nearly a third of voters polled said the vice-presidential selection would be a major factor influencing their vote for president, and those voters broadly favor Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee.
And in a possible indication that the choice of Ms. Palin has hurt Mr. McCains image, voters said they had much more confidence in Mr. Obama to pick qualified people for his administration than they did in Mr. McCain....
Over all, views of Ms. Palin were apparently shaped more by ideology and party than by gender. Ms. Palin was viewed as unprepared for the job by about 6 in 10 men and women alike. But 8 in 10 Democrats viewed her as unprepared, as well as more than 6 in 10 independents and 3 in 10 Republicans.

"Growing Doubts on Palin Take a Toll, Poll Finds" [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
That's a Friday New York Times headline. The piece goes on and on about what a drag Palin is to the McCain ticket.
But check out question #10 in the poll the piece is discussing here:
IF NOT ENTHUSIASTIC IN Q9: What is your biggest concern, if any, about (Barack Obama/John McCain) as a candidate for President?
The answer? A whopping two percent said dont like Vice President.
It's not until the end of the piece that you learn: Over all, views of Ms. Palin were apparently shaped more by ideology and party 8 in 10 Democrats viewed her as unprepared, as well as more than 6 in 10 independents and 3 in 10 Republicans.

Does the NYT’s expect to be taken seriously? They should actually investigate Obama. . .Now that would be a real story.
lol!! the NY Times is such a joke.
Utter Bullshit
nobody gives a rat’s ass about the VP slot.
I absolutely, positively love Sarah Palin. Good thing my wife never visits Free Republic!
Look at his posting history.
Wormwood has walkin’ orders, don’tchaknow.
Media created hate for this woman, just as they did with Bush, eventually trickles down to Americans and they buy it hook, line, and sinker.
Other threatening conservatives come along; wash, rinse, repeat.

maybe they should look at their own f-ing numbers — their daily circ is diving like a japanese zero — I wonder if they will even bother to publish the day McCain /Palin wins? or will they just pack it in and go home?
BAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!
So far today I have seen threads about
White supremacists voting for Obama
Born again Christians voting for Obama
and now We do not like Palin...
It must be Halloween!
Yet another hit piece.
Not a poll I’d trust.
“The nationwide telephone poll was conducted Saturday through Wednesday with 1,439 adults nationwide, including 1,308 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.”
I couldn’t find the breakdown as to party, gender etc. Weekends also tend to have many more democrat respondents than republican, it also does registered voters not likely voters.
Just another MSM try at stopping the move toward McCain/Palin that they see. If they can get us depressed they have WON. So we’ll be getting daily, if not hourly, new polls showing that ‘they don’t like Palin’, they don’t like McCain, they love Obama and so on.
This is part of an organized dissemination of a contrived meme from the Obama campaign.
The other day on Hillbuzz, the obamabots flooded the comments with slurs at Palin. They old gray hag is all too happy, I’m sure, to help spread the “word”.
gdfb!
I’ve read your posts.
You do the best impersonation of a “concern troll” that I’ve seen on the internet, I know you’re a rock-ribbed Republican, but you’re concern troll act deserves an Academy Award.
Heh! The riots will be amazing.
