It does seem to be a combination of the un-churched secular humanists who find religion in politics and those in the wacko black power Liberation theology sects. But since many of the Obama supporters are not Christians they don’t even realize that they are falling into a messianic religious cult. Confusion also leads people into cults and people have been dumbed down in this country on faith matters for too long.
In reading Jonah Goldberg's book, Liberal Fascism, it is one of the things that must be in place for the rise to power of any of the progressive type movements. The church/God must be replaced by or with the state. Holy days are replaced with national holidays. One only needs to consider the idea of winter breaks and spring breaks to see the most vivid of replacements. As a kid it Christmas/Easter Breaks, not a seasonal event. The removing of the 10 commandments, the first laws is another example. This creates the foundation on which to base secular morality.
Hitler replaced religious holidays with national(pagan-type) holidays.
