Iran may have tested a series of nuclear weapons underground. The Israel Insider reported:
Iranian source: Quake Saturday was nuclear bomb test October 28, 2008 at 11:00amIsrael Insider exclusively reports that a seismic event this weekend in southern Iran may in fact have been a massive underground nuclear bomb test. According to the USGS, the tremor measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale took place Saturday night, October 25 just before midnight Iran time, with its epicenter at 26.70°N, 55.02°E, just north of the strategic straits of Hormuz, opposite Abu Dhabi.
The claim that the tremor was in fact a nuclear test came from an Iranian nuclear scientist who claims to be working in uranium enrichment for the project. A report published by Israel Insider on Friday, October 24 included a captionless map that portrayed the area of the seismic event that occurred the following night, based on location information previously provided by the Iranian source.
Israel Insiders source reports that the test is in fact the second in a series. A 4.8 Richter scale event occurred on October 21 with an epicenter (26.70N, 54.96E) within 5 km (3 miles) of the October 25 tremor.
Israeli and foreign sources have long speculated that Iran has been in possession of ready nuclear bombs but would only begin testing them when a full production line for nuclear weapons is in place.
The source indicated that Iran is being assisted by China and North Korea. Israel Insiders Iranian source reports that two nuclear rockets have been completed and are intended for use against the Jewish State in the coming months.
The site of the test and the development facility are believed to be in close proximity. The location appears to have been carefully selected. The area is exposed to significant seismic activity, which could serve to mask nuclear tests, although the recent spike in activity in that specific area significantly deviates from historical trends. A tremor measuring 6.2 struck the area on September 10, 2008 (its epicenter was 80km or 50 miles due west), the largest seismic event in the area in more than 33 years.
The location on the Persian Gulf near the straits of Hormuz would also facilitate delivery and transport of material and personnel. the strategic importance of the immediate area may also be intended to deter potential strikes against the facilities, which could close down the flow of a substantial percentage of the worlds oil.
There has been NOTHING in the mainstream media about this. Perhaps they think it would help the McCain/Palin ticket!
Oh, I see. My bad!
WHY is this thread even in breaking news?
Yeesh...
SURPRISE!!!!!!!

Ping to post # 9 regarding seismic trace of an underground nuke.
How would you estimate the size of a nuke that triggered 5.0 on the Richter scale and took place Saturday night, October 25 just before midnight Iran time, with its epicenter at 26.70°N, 55.02°E, just north of the strategic straits of Hormuz, opposite Abu Dhabi.
Well.... he's not called "Amanutjob" for nothing.
‘Sniffer aircraft could easily pick up traces of the tests.’
I don’t imagine they would acknowledge picking up any traces if it really was a nuke test...that would be tightly held info. Maybe this is what Biden and Powell have been referencing in their words about pending crisis for the newly elected President. Powell even gave a date range. Neither of them should have opened their mouths on this.
Is historically a VERY seismically active area and is on the coast - hardly a place for such a test as site preparation would have been very obvious and secrecy thrown out the window. This was not a nuke.
“They” think 0bama is The Mahdi, so he’ll come over to their side.
I’m fully expecting an 8.2 on the richter scale when Israel drops their load.
What a brilliant idea. We go to a location where all of the earth's geotechnical forces are frequently observed to just exceed the strength of the materials composing our earth's crust, and then we decide to test the largest explosive we can produce, in hopes that nobody will catch us. It's sortof like placing a pipebomb on an ammo bunker in a firing range for the cops, hoping your tests are masked by the nearby firing so nobody knows you are testing it.
Nope. They didn't.
Seismic signature would have tipped off enough people OUTSIDE the Government Intel community that there would have been corroborative reports from other quarters, by now.
No such corroboration exists.
Aircraft and satellite instrumentation would have picked up radioactive leakage.
Such instrumentation is not unique to the United States. If said instrumentation HAD detected radiation, SOME source SOMEWHERE would have made that information public, by now.
NO such public announcement has been made, nor has anyone who would be privy to that data "leaked" it to any public media anywhere.
The events in this region have all been plain vanilla activity.
And, "No," you CAN'T have fries with that.
Iran MAY be getting close to a test, but this seismically active region doing its normal seismically active thing ISN'T that, and it would be HIGHLY out of Iran's normal M.O. to be secretive about such a monumental shift in their position in the world.

“This is the set up for the Israelis to bomb the crap out of Iran. You just watch.”
Midnight next Tuesday?
Key word here is "may". Not enough data to make any judgment at this time.
CATS!
Maybe the Dems were counting in dog years.
It’s a pity a massive sinkhole wasn’t created....the whole country could’ve vanished.
We're being infiltrated by Zero's vegetable voters?
Eh.
Let’em stay.
Just by being here, their IQs are bound to raise a few points.
